Na tha kuch to khuda tha kuch na hota to khuda hota
Daboya mujh ko hone nay na hota mein to kiya hita.
What do you think of it philosophically?
Personally myself I think it’s very true. The poet is claiming that the God is god because of him. If the poet was not in existance, God being there or not does not matter at all.
perhaps for you personally it's right, that if you were not in existence, then the existence of God would not have mattered at all for you.
However, this is a counterfactual hypothesis, because the fact is that you are in existence, so that's a given. Any inferences you want to draw will have to be drawn given that you are in existence.
So I agree, in itself the supposition is perhaps true, but it doesn't have any practical value
I believe that...God (The One God) is within each and every soul talking to us...but do we listen within ourselves...or do we try and get answers from out there? What may be right for you may not be right for me. That is probably the practical value....for one person praying, fasting etc may cleanse your soul...for others it may be spending time with the sick, elderly etc. What does the God within you tell you?

Read my signature for my belief in God. I kinda split ways.

What you say/think?
I agree with the poet.
Leaving aside your belief in God, the poet means exactly the opposite. He just says that his existence is cause of all emotional problems, if he(poet) did not exist, he wud not have any problems. He is not relating his existence to idea of God.
ghalib did'nt believe in god anyway,or at best he was in disagreement with him.he was not a practicing muslims,he was an alchoholic and hardly ever went to mosque to pray.theres another verse from him which is even more interesint about God.
Kuhda kay wastay pardah na kabay say utha zalim
kahin aisa na ho yan bhi wahi kafir sanam niklay
here he is saying that let us live in fools paradise and be happy and not find out who god really is cause he might turn out to be just like that insincere lover.
hoee mudat kay ghalib mar gya par yaad aata hay
woh her aik baat pay kehna kay yun hota toh kya hota.
