McDonald's: Memories

I was having a discussion yesterday with a girl who’s eldest uncle worked at one of the original McDonald “resteraunts”…in those days, they were kind of like the Johnny Rocket’s burger places.

The food was real. It was cheap, but it wasn’t unhealthy.

The discussion stemmed from the difference between today’s eating habits and sedentary lifestyle and those of days gone by.

People used to go on picnics on the weekends - they used to do outdoors stuff, like boating and hiking and playing tag in the backyard.

Today, you eat all the fried food you can get your hands on and then sit your rump in front of a computer and surf the net all day.

And apparently, GI tract diseases are up on a rise. Any of you kids who wants to be a doctor, you kids might want to look into the GI field since its apparently exploding. Um, literally.

Re: McDonald's: Memories

You start off with Mc donalds and ed up with tract diseases. You built up my appetite and then grossed me out.

PCG...I can't even begin to imagine what you'd do on your wedding night :D

Re: McDonald's: Memories

what does wedding night have to do with anything??

Re: McDonald's: Memories

It's all about the build up and release, you build up pretty good, but you end horribly :D

gal I'm just pulling your leg...:D I mean no harm you know that...don;t ya?

Re: McDonald's: Memories

Oh i have memories of McDonalds too...

One time I was hanging out with my freinds, about a week after Eid. We sat there for four hours, just talking and BS-ing. we got kicked out. I love telling people "we got kicked out of McDonalds!"

Re: McDonald’s: Memories

ah the sight of irrelevant replies. its so refreshing. sarcasm

Re: McDonald's: Memories

hey the title reminded ME of memories of my last trip to McDs, alritE?? and uh i wasn't the only one with an irrelevant reply :p

Re: McDonald's: Memories

I just came back from McD's woo wooooo...but to answer your question, society has too many conveniences. Everyone has a car, kids play video games, watch tv, internet..seems like the more modern conveniences/luxuries people have, they tend to forgo the way things used to be.

Re: McDonald's: Memories

PCG - Read 'Fast Food Nation' by Eric Schlossar. You will never step in a fast food restaurant again.

Re: McDonald’s: Memories

geez, who eats fast food nowadays :yukh: I used to love Miccy Ds, infact the last burger I had was during Ramzaan last year. (yeah all the Miccy D outlets here are halaal) and that was like months ago.

I guess the memories were good, but I dont even touch fries anymore and MDs were the best :frowning:

Re: McDonald's: Memories

I say Burger king has the best fries!

Re: McDonald's: Memories

I make the best french fries at home. They are thick, long and dripping in hot oil. Very soft too. I eat 'em with ketchup and tabasco sauce mix.

Re: McDonald's: Memories

^^

Sounds horrible... you like em soft and floppy?

Re: McDonald's: Memories

I like mine, thin long and crispy...sheesh it's been a while sine I had some!

Re: McDonald’s: Memories

that is what I am talking about…

Re: McDonald's: Memories

I'm sure McDonald's food has evolved to become increasingly unhealthy. But now the company is trying to go through a 'healthy' image change. Adding salads, grilled chicken, fries made in vegetable oil instead of animal fat, juice and yogurt etc. The food is really fast, convenient, really cheap, and addictive...especially for kids. As a kid we didn't go very often but I do have many memories of eating there. Remember the characters they used to have? Hamburgler, Grimace, Early Bird, Mayor McCheese. They were the best. My 3 year old daughter occasionally asks for a happy meal but i think she's more interested in getting the toy than the actual food.

Re: McDonald's: Memories

Speaking of unhealthy. Here goes.
I went to the washroom of our cafeteria, and saw a cafe worker walked in and peed in the urinal next to me. I was done so I went to wash my hands, he followed ~10 seconds later. Now this is what got me, he was still wearing the plastic gloves, he took them off and washed his hands (as the per the instructions I guess) and then put the gloves back on.

Re: McDonald's: Memories

^LOL he was strictly following the rules "wash your hands before leaving the restroom. They should have a clause about taking off plastic gloves too.

Re: McDonald’s: Memories

verizon… :disgust:
