What with all the FOB/ABCD comments flying about ..I thought I’d open this thread in honour of the most unique kind of “Desis” ..Middle Eastern Born Confused Desis…( being a flexible group..I do encourage comments by people who may have been born elsewhere but spent a chunk of their formative years in the Middle East)
Whereas most second generation families suffer from being torn between two identities.. MBCD’s have one up on most migrant families. they often see three very distinctive idenitities in their lives (middle Eastern, Pakistani and Western). They also live with the realisation the place they spent so many early years..could never be made home.
So guys and gals Ahlan Wasahalan.. join in and share with us all …how you look back at your life as an MBCD and how you think it compares with ABCDs, BBCD’s , CBCD’s, FOBs, born and bred Pakistanis etc etc..
LD, my accent is so mixed up... South African accents are also quite diverse. I used to have a somewhat British accent, but it's become South Africanised now - its always changing - depends who im talking to! but some people still ask if I'm from the UK.
Kaleem there are loads on gupshup..confused desis are naturally drawn to gupshup..it helps reaffirm how desi we are..hence why no Pakistanis in Pakistan bother with the site :p
Billy you FUBAR ..I said Middle Eastern born..or raised..not African so shoo!
