MBA

How many of you have done MBA and did you do it for your business or job/work?

Help me understand MBA and what subjects you study for it. And which institute is best for MBA here in Pakistan. I think its LUMS hands down but would like to hear your views too.

Re: MBA

MBA is a choon choon ka marabba where they teach you a something about everything related to the business world. Subjects/courses vary depending on the institution/major.

If you are planning LUMS, better have some work experience beforehand. They use case study methodology which is not very effective in learning unless you've had some real life experience of how organisations work.

Re: MBA

Re: MBA

I did my MBA 4 years back and as far as I know with work experience LUMS won't give you admission in MBA.

However I believe MBA varies from university to university mainly because of teaching methodology. LUMS has case study method. IBA and CBM follows a mix of case studies , projects and theory work. Szabist is also good. Apart from LUMS , IBA , CBM and Szabist I will not recommend you to apply anywhere else . Good luck !

Re: MBA

NUST is also good !

I know this for a fact that LUMS prefers diversity and encourages people from different fields, as long as they can demonstrate willingness to THINK about things and SHARE their experience with others.

We also need to understand that MBA is not a 'profession' or a 'field' of work. It is just a degree exposing people to the theories, practices, terms and language of business world.

Re: MBA

MBA is jack of all master of none !

Re: MBA

With the MBA you'll be studying Accounting, Economics, Marketing, Strategic Planning, HR, Organisational Behaviour, and lots of other things that will help you become a good manager and business leader.

Re: MBA

Exactly MBA from a well reputed Institute will help you out in achieving your goals :-)

Re: MBA

I've gone through it from Pak and as per my experience, its sooo important to go through it from a ver good institution, rather I would say choose the best one.
If you are in lahore, go for LUMS if you can. I'm not that updated about institutions of that level in Pak right now.

Re: MBA

SID i agree with you its very important to choose best institute for MBA like LUMS, IBA, LSE
