How easy is it to get jobs in the US if you’ve done an MBA from a top place like LUMS or IBA in Pakistan?
Re: MBA from Pakistan
:D
I knew this was coming. Good question though.
Re: MBA from Pakistan
no one will hire a fresh grad from any non-US management school unless it was a campus recruitment.
but if the person has good work experience, say at a multinational firm in the middle east or pakistan, they should have it easy finding a suitable job in the US as well. no one looks at schools if the person has recognizable work on his/her resume.
Depends on the experience too. Policies, regulations and tools can be different for an HR person, finance has similar issues, marketing is decades ahead here in all aspects. So it's not just experience but immediately transferable experience. Many other factors play a role.
The question is not whether someone can catch up and learn to do the work, but...are they better than other candidates. That is key.
Re: MBA from Pakistan
Some of the IBA grads have MBAs with 4yrs of education i.e. 3 yr Undergrad+1yr of MBA or 5yrs (3yr undergrad+ 2yr of MBA) depending on which program you went through.
So i really doubt if in such cases having MBA would hold any value.
Re: MBA from Pakistan
It is not easy for an overseas graduate to get a job in the US (even if it is a top school), unless he starts out with an hourly position and works his way up, or gets a graduate degree from the US first.
Re: MBA from Pakistan
depends on the type of experience..if someone has done category mgmt in CPG space for example...P&G or CVS etc will be all over that person. How immediately transferable that experience is to local role is critical....and also who is to say its a local role. it can be a US role focusing on foreign operations. Nature of experience is key... you have someone with strong analytical skills...and by that I mean model building..there are more jobs than they can fill
Yap i would say the same.
Re: MBA from Pakistan
In Pakistan, IBA is best institute though other universities also started MBA program, but IBA is best. I agree with X2 plus if employee is transferring to headquarter/office(in USA) .. It would good opportunity...
Alone MBA degree is not transferable.. Koi ghans bhi nahi dalay... because business subjects are not transferable (Pakistan is not English speaking country)...
