MBA from LUMS

People say that there isn’t any place better in Pakistan for MBA than LUMS. There is no doubt that LUMS is the most highly recognized university in Pakistan and its MBA and research collaborations with universities like MIT, Harvard, McGill etc. too make it the best we have. The work load is immense, staying nights at the university is nothing unusual but an everyday commodity there.

I am well aware that the outcome after 2 years will be very fruitful in terms of knowledge, presentation & communication skills, experience, know how etc. But the problem of spending nights in university, having a total zero level of family and social life isnt really okay for girls. My mother insists on starting the wedding process soon but i insist on going for the MBA. People often say that here in Pakistan, one may not even be allowed to work later so why should one go through sooo much of tough study. I always say its not really for the job or the money or anything but its for my own career choice and will.

Do you think one should go for an MBA from LUMS or not? Anyone has had the experience of studying there?

My advice is not to say the above during the interview process or you'll not even get an admission offer.

I guess you already have most of the information, so its basically your own preferences that should determine your choice.

Go for an MBA from LUMS :) good choice ... where do u live ... if ur close to lahore go for LUMS ... the other option is IBA ... but i understand its too far away for many people ... But do go for an MBA ... Lums is a very good university that fosters your skills and gives you a level playing ground for your ideas .... the routine is tough and you are a gem when through ....

thumbs up for the go getter

**My frnd in interview said…
I want to join LUMS … cuz i want to serve Pakistan …
The interviewer replied … what a bookish answer :omg:

Poor guy was not selected ..**

haha, What a stupid answer to give. The interview is the utmost important. In that half an hour, either you get a green signal or a red one. Other than the job experience, the qualifications, the LMAT or GMAT, the interview is the final thing. It is a bit tough because of the competition with 3000+ people and also because the 4-5 interviewers ask questions from anywhere at all, they may even ask some thing that is totally not from your field but is considered general knowledge. They dont care from whaty background you are, you need to be politically, economically, finanicially aware of the surroundings and the world.
