Mayoun Hair/Look

hi girls,

any advice as to how i should do my hair and makeup for the mayoun? i want to go with a simple look, but not so simple, since i’ve hired a photographer. do you recommend flower jewelry on this day or should i just save that for the mehendi or both?

what about hair? paranda? braid? straight and down? dupatta on head?

need some advice

Re: Mayoun Hair/Look

I think a paranda would look nice.

Re: Mayoun Hair/Look

I hear nowadays girls are going over the top with their mehindi suits as well. I would say nice suit, hair open n curled flowers in the hair and a nice but simple jewely set.

Re: Mayoun Hair/Look

Sweet and simple!!

Adorned with white/yellow flower jewelery.

Hair in braid:)

Make up should be kept minimal (light foundation to cover imperfections for photography purposes, very light blush for rosy cheeks) or excluded all together. Brides are usually glowy because of all the beauty rituals.

Based on a medium yellow mayoon suit with gold/silver gota.

Dupatta on head is timeless and elegant and suitable for a traditional dulhan:)

Re: Mayoun Hair/Look

But she hired a photographer blushing rose. I think she should get all purtified. You only get married once :)

Re: Mayoun Hair/Look

^^IMO even with a photographer lil make up is enough...most girls do look beautiful simple on mayoon and there are other events to doll up such as the baraat and valima:)

I too had a photographer come to my mayoon--had barely any make up (just to cover flaws) and the pictures came out lovely.

At the end its the bride's personal preference..after all its her day

Re: Mayoun Hair/Look

Awww but you can be simple anytime for the rest of ur life... Wedding is the time to doll up!! I guess everyone has their own preference!

Re: Mayoun Hair/Look

to me, this is the perfect mayyoun look!

Re: Mayoun Hair/Look

paranda,paranda and paranda.

so pretty!

Might be a stupid question but is mayun different mehndi function? like 2 separate days.......?

Re: Mayoun Hair/Look

im thinking about this too....i decided to do a paranda, with a thin jasmine string around my braid, and then leaving my hair open (curling the ends) for the mehndi with a dupatta on my head...im wearing yellow both days, so this is way my hair would be different...

i think wearing a paranda on the maiyun is perfect, because that is the day when the girl should look the most masoom and traditional...with a tiny bit makeup and and a paranda is perfect and it makes every girl look gorgeous!

Hey hun! I think looking more simple and traditional is a great look for the bride on the Mayoun!

Do your makeup so that its the “not wearing any makeup look”… even tho you are! haha.

My opinion: Your skin should look flawless… so a good natural looking foundation is a must as well as concealer. No need to go crazy with blush and bronzer… just a little bit of a rosey color on cheeks to give a “natural looking flush”. Eyeshadow on eye should be neutral tones … more on the lighter shades than darker because you want to “brighten” up the eye area … make your eyes look bigger. No eyeliner on bottom water line. No mascara on bottom lashes either. Black eyeliner on top and 2 coats of mascara should be enough  Lipstick should be close to your natural lip color… top with clear lipgloss. I think this is the best way to strike that balance of looking natural and having flawless pictures.

Here is an example of what I am talking about in regards to makeup:

If you are doing flower jewelry for Mehndi… then save it for that. I like it when brides have different looks for different events. Wear a paranda for Mayoun! I like the idea of wearing dupatta on head too because I think of Mayoun of a more traditional event. I am also biased towards dupatta wearing because I think its the best way for the bride to stick out from the rest of the guests anyways. Just wear your dupatta in a different style from how you are wearing it on the other events!

Re: Mayoun Hair/Look

thank you girls! i am going to definitely stick with a traditional look and SGC - that is the photograph i'm actually working off of for my mayoun look. ideally, someone can help me make a bouffant on top and a paranda like braid to the side. my jhora is a yellow peshwaas with churidaar with indian gotaa trim that my dad had made in Pakistan. its a chiffon material, but i guess the cutest part is the gotaa, but i haven't seen the jhora yet, ha ha. i'm wearing cutesy gladiator style sandals that i bought from nordstroms, or i have a pair of khusaiy on the way. any idea as to what looks better? i'm figuring the upton will get all over my hands and feet. hope this photographer takes good pictures and is able to touch up my flaws!

Re: Mayoun Hair/Look

Go for paranda with a quiff and flowers to soften the whole look!
