Even if we somehow manage to beat RSA (that will be one of the biggest upsets of the tournament) our current batting cannot exceed 150 which u need against stronger teams such as Australia, Sri Lanka and even England (the winner will come from one of these three teams)
Well...in this match...the captaincy did not fail...Afridi kept his promise to restrict NZ around 130 runs...it was the top order batting with the exception of Butt failed...
PS: A captain has some 80% influence while his side is fielding...and only 20% while his side is batting...
The target score was not a mountain, as captain you are supposed to lead from front, have some sense of responsibility, some game plan when you go out to bat.
The point is, it should not have come to that. 133 should have been a regulation chase, a stroll but Pakistan's current batting is so bad that they made it look like they were chasing 180+!
Had we been chasing something like 170+ and gone down fighting, I would have agreed with you
but they did have a hard time.. whatever the reasons might be.. they did fight even when the situation was worst.. taking the game to last ball was hard.. always is.
You win some and then you lose some.
I am wondering what would be the reaction here if we won. Surely everyone here would be praising Salman butt for the amazing innings he played.
Watch Salman against SA attack then you can come back whether he is still 'warrior' or not :) But yeah credit to him for fighting it out.
Well is big of you to give him a little credit but This has always been the case with Salman hasnt it? First he scores against australia in australia, he is called a poor team man, he performs against BD, damn that was BD right? He played well against England (no credit given). He almost singlehandedly won this match with an innings of sheer maturity and YET his critics like you are like 'well lets see if he can perform against SA'
He just did not fight it out, he almost won it for the team. I have been his supporter throughout (not for his fielding, he needs to get better at that) but because he is a quality opener. I never thought he would make a good T20 player but Incidentally he has been the only shining light in this tournament for Pakistan.

As much as I would have been relieved after win, I would have still had the same reservations about our batting; that it is substandard and simply not good enough to beat stronger teams such as Australia, Sri Lanka and England
And yes despite the loss Salman Butt and Razzaq played their part with the bat today & hence are exempt from blame

With Pakistan you never know. Remember the last cup. They are not known as the most unpredictable team for nothing. The big handicap this time is that last time we had Younis as captain, now we have afridi.
challo shukar ha khuda ka...iss roz roz kee laanat say to jan choothii....i truly hope that this crap does not continue beyond super 8 and we come home because based on current team’s performance, we simply do not deserve to win…there are better teams out there....
plus as i said in my last post, i am relieved to know that the pre-camp was just a joke...ma to dar hee gaya tha that what is going on inside the camp....waqar younis and afridi was portraying it as a life-changing experience!!!....it will be a life changing experience for waqar and afridi for sure...one will head back to sydney and the other one will be selling shirts and kurtay at his shop in karachi....;
now this great nation of ours will get back to the normal business.... praying day and night that India also gets eliminated.......that is what we have been doing in every world cup (1987 world cup, 1996 world cup, 2003 world cup, 2007 world cup)...and surprisingly Indians never disappoint us! Our true friends indeed....

Then you should not worry about problems in Pakistan too, because govt is trying to fix/address the issues :)

When did I say he was a poor team man? :)
“behsram indians” wanted to learn how to play t20 and staged IPL drama, but they were only able to strengthen David Warner, Dirk Nannace, Hussy Bros, Polard, KP, Collingwood, Malinga, etc etc and etc,
but unable to get the knowledge about the play themselves! ts tsk besharam indians
