they don't really look nice with short people. I have a friend who wears them and it really doesn't flatter her.
its better suited for taller girls I think..

I've seen a lot of them to state my opinion =P
you don't have to get annoyed just because I don't think maxi dresses suit short people. Its not flattering at all especially since its supposed to show how long your lower half is not how short you are.

If the maxi is the right shape and size, it usually looks nice. I have a 5' sister and for all that she is a midget, she still looks nice in a maxi, and it tends to make you look more slender. The main thing is getting a maxi that doesn't drag or looks like a weird shape (like a weird puffy bag or something)

Everybody should wear what suits them just because I think maxi dresses don't suit short people doesn't mean the world is going to end.
There are a lot of clothing that tall people can't wear same with fat, skinny etc etc.

It just depends on what your definition is on short.. imo 5"2 is not that short but 4"9 is.

My friend who is 5"1 pulls of maxi's wonderfully! Yeh she does have to take them up a lil but but they look wonderful on her. Whereas me her 5ft 5 friend looks a little bit silly. BUT I have found it totally depends on what type of material it's made out of and how it hangs on you and patterns too. Nout to do with height in my opinion!

Also to OP H&M have nice maxis which sit really nice on whatever frame. Plus you can always get a thin cardy from primark/new look which isn't too see through thing or too winter thick!

Hye cupcake and girls, thanks for your replies..

I worse a River island maxi (thin straps with a similar colour top (Primark - Have the best long sleeved tops) but it just didn't look right.

I actually think, the long sleeved top look with maxi works so much better on girls who wear hijab as they can hide the neck line

I tried the maxi with a long cardi and that didn't work.

I did the jacket things and I looked fugly :frowning:

You know the jacket that KP looks gorge in, oh M G I looked like a frumpy aunty

There’s a few light jackets in New Looks which I tried too and they don’t suit me at all, I had a maxi on when I went shopping and I looked so bad when I was trying that I almost started to cry in the changing room.

Ps I am 5"5" and not overly moti moti just moti

I think I am going opt for a nice light cardi when I find my dream one.

I thought if any thing.. maxi dresses make shorter girls look taller.. im like barely 5'3, I still wear em.

if ur casually wearing it, fly away cardigans with slightly long sleeves work really nice … gives u this slender nice elegant look..

or u could also try cute net shrugs in contrasting colors like the one my sister is wearing here

make sure ur sleeves are bit fitted.
