OK, so I love maxi dresses, and love seeing how other girls wear theirs 
Do you wear a vest top underneath to avoid exposing too much?
Do you wear it with wedges or pretty sandals?
How do you accessorise it? (e.g. sunglasses, chunky bracelets, belt at the waist, oversized bag etc)

I'm totally in th market for a maxi dress this summer.
I'd wear it with a short cotton cardigan (fitted sleeves) and flats.
So do I! lol
If its a deep V neck then yes I wear a vest top underneath (I usually pick out a colour from the dress and buy the same colour vest top) with a crop cardi. Sunglasses and an oversize bag with sandals are a must!
I try not to over do it with the accessorises if the maxi has quite a vivid print!

Naqsa - there are some lovely maxi's available in the shops right now, are you in the UK?
Do you ever feel overdressed while out in a maxi? I see girls wearing them out to the park etc, but I can't wear them unless I'm off out somewhere - summer party/BBQ etc

I'm not liking any of the maxi dresses out this year :( they either look far too glam for daytime wear (i.e. material) or too drab !
Depends on the maxi really...I'll wear a silk one in the evening and a cotton one in the daytime!

^ I really like the neck line on that one, but would have preferred the skirt to be a long a-line style skirt rather than the gypsy style that it is.

Oh, me too! I tried the Oasis one on when it first came out (the grey one looks better than the blue colour). Am of the same opinion re: skirt! I didn't buy it because you can buy a plain maxi and just accessorise with jewellery and it'll be for a fraction of the price!
The monsoon one is pretty! I'm avoiding the viscose, polyester material ones though! Going to wait another month or so, they may have better ones out!

I have tons of maxi dresses and I love them!
I wear them with:
shoes:
- flats
- ankle boots
- wedges
- sandles
accessories:
- bangles/bracelets
- chain necklaces
- a chunky belt
Oh I love Maxi dresses! I wear mine with small cardigans or shrugs and if the neck is low then a camisole underneath. I always wear them with flats…especially gladiator sandals. Some of the jersey ones out this season are a bit ugly though.
I have enough already but I really want to buy this one now. I’m not sure how to cover up my arms though… I think a shrug would hide all the detail on the neck :hmmm: any ideas girls?
I was in Mango the other day and their maxi dresses were lush :wub:

Afshi - you've just reminded me, I really need to pick up a very light denim jacket! I want to wear it with a white top and white linen pants, sandals and plenty of jewellery!
LovelyChica - I never noticed that the monsoon one is viscose - I hate that material! Defo won't be paying that price for a viscose dress!
Syra - how about a cropped cardy, a bolero or (if you show your arms) a capped sleeve tee?

Love maxi dresses!! I like wearing them with cardigans / cropped jackets / tshirt underneath/ shrug/ shawl type of things that go over your shoulder
I don't try to match the layers - for example, I wear white shawl thing with torquoise maxi, a red cropped cardigan with black & white maxi
Don't have any pics otherwise I would post.
I usually wear flats with them
I have a very nice maxi from H&M that has fluttery sleeves upto my elbows..it's gorgeous! I don't need to wear much with it because its doesn't over expose

Afshi -- Winners has great maxi's!! Atleast they did last summer. Haven't been shopping recently so I don't know if they are out yet
I normally wear without anything extra but if it's a bit skimpy up top and there are aunties around I'll stick a little shrug on, Juicy do a lovely little cashmere one..

Usually i wear a maxi as it is, but seeing as Blighty is not a hot place, i sometimes layer it up with:
Fail-safe denim jacket - different washes, cuts:
Leather jackets - different colours, cuts:
Blazers - different colours, cuts:
A vest, shirt or blouse on top or underneath:
(love the clashing!!!)
A waistcoat/gilet of some sort:
A pashmina/scarf wrapped around the top:
Accessories - minimal
Footwear - flat sandals

Maroush I never considered wearing it with a waistcoat - I will defo be trying that :)
