I was hoping to wear a matti patti on my wedding day but after a few conversations with friends they are saying with hijab the matthi patta will look odd . My intention was to have a same color hijab beneath the dupatta to cover neck and hair …
will it look odd ? has anyone tried this before , any images to help me figure out how to make it right ?
I’m not a fan of mattha patti and Hijab - I prefer a more cleaner look. It’ll also depend on how heavy the rest of your jewellery and your outfit is.
Would you consider wearing a neck piece? One of my friends bought extra fabric (matching her shirt) and got sherwani collar type thing made. She wore this under her shirt and it covered her entire neck/chest. For her hair, she used a cap and had her dupatta set forward. I think this would look less constricted/busy
Would you consider wearing it this way? (3rd picture)
i will not be wearing any neck jewellery (to avoid looking over the top) and the hijab will cover my neck anyway , nor do i want to try the necklace over the hijab look . So basically the mathi patta is my only form of jewellery hence i want to try and make it work somehow ....
I recently went to a bengali wedding for the first time and 89% of the female guests were wearing hijab and were also very dressed up wearing lots of jewellery and heavy clothes. Lots of the guests were wearing tikkas and matti pattis with thier hijabs and it looked amazing!! whenever I used to picture head jewellery with hijabs in my head I also used to think it wouldn't look right but trust me, it looked great and if thats what you want to wear than go for it !!
I dont have any pictures but I remember one girl was wearing a red scarf with a gold matti patti and it looked fab :)
i'm not too fond of matti pathi with hijab. i think the best way it can be pulled off is if the matti pathi isn't too chunky, something more delicate. i think tikkas look great with hijab! what about a tikka or maybe a bigger tikka for a statement look?
I’ve seen this look(3rd picture) andthis one(last picture from Sara Rohale Asghar’s collection) - you could try this → I think if you pull your dupatta enough to the front, it will look better than if your mathi patti sits ontop of your Hijab. Obviously, in the pcitures the neck is exposed, sooo you could just cover it as you were planning on. A delicate one would be best as willow said
many arabian brides use to wear their neck piece on their scarves n it looks sooooooooo yummy. if u r nt wearing necklace then go for matha patti. but then donot wear earings.. sorry to say bt brides with matha patti+earings+nath look like a cow to me :p.. personally. a delicate tikka will work better than matha patti :).. i am also hijabi bt i will hav a segregated wedding.
