Matter of Determination

:salam2:

Almighty Allah says in Chapter 3 Verse 186: “You will surely be tested in your possessions and in yourselves. And you will surely hear from those who were given the Scripture before you and from those who associate others with Allah much abuse. But if you are patient and fear Allah - indeed, that is of the matters [worthy] of determination.”

Patient in all matters is must and it is a high level deed among many other good deeds. So always be in patience in all matters. Labeling one another that he or she is is wrong won’t make us better Muslim nor we’ll have any fear of Almighty Allah in us. If anyone of you think that labeling, mocking others is right than please come forward with an example from the Life of beloved Prophet Muhammad :saw2:

Fear of Almighty Allah should be in sense that a person is misguided and one the day of Judgement when Almighty Allah will ask me that my so and so servant was misguided, what u did to help him? So due to this fear (question) i’ll try to help that person being calm and in patience, but rather than that I labeled him or her as infidel and mocked to his or her belief.

May Almighty Allah keep us on right path. Ameen.

Re: Matter of Determination

Nice thoughts. unfortunately, very few people think on these lines. It is hard to be patient, to put a restraint on your own self. Being patient is sometimes considered as cowardice or defeat whereas in reality those who fear losing resort to tactics of abusing and suppressing their opponents with brute force.

Re: Matter of Determination

Peace kchughtai,

I think this is because when we fail in understanding the message mentioned in Holy Qur'an and hadith. The Quran is a book of knowledge and one who really ponder on each and every single word, than apply it onself will automatically have fear in his or her heart but merely reading as an ordinary book won't lead us anywhere.

Most of the time we backup our stance by quoting references from Quran and hadith but unfortunately, we never apply it our ourself.

Re: Matter of Determination

If you ask yourself in your solitude, how did Islam spread so fast and brought about unmatched revolution not just on the map of the world but in the lives of its followers. If the muslims of the first century had resorted to the tactics many champions of Islam proudly apply, Islam would not have gone pass the boundaries of Arabia and if it had, it would have shrunk back with no traces left as we have seen the fate of many great empires. it was spread because of its principles and high morals and values of its adherents that were unheard of in those dark ages.

Re: Matter of Determination

Peace kchughtai,

U remind me a incident where a person told me that 'we pray to Almighty Allah that our children become doctor or engineer but what we do for them to become a doctor or engineer beside praying?. He meant we wants our kidz grow up having good moral and knowledge of Islam but we feed them luxuries of this worlds. We teach them how important is studies for them so they can have better job and earn more money so they live a luxurious life. We teach them how to save money rather than giving in charity or to help needy and the discussion went so and so.

That could be a reason why we hate each others.

Re: Matter of Determination

^ I couldn't get how the "That could be a reason why we hate each others" was linked to the example you gave. When parents want their child to grow up and become doctor and engineer, they want their child to be self-sufficient and be in a position to help others rather on the receiving end. this is the positive side.

Re: Matter of Determination

Peace kchughtai,

As u wrote above that “they want their child to be self-sufficient and be in a position to help others…” that he what pointed out when I answered him. He said we miss saying that he grow up with knowledge of Islam and by having Seerat-e-Nabi :saw2: even though it is in our mind but we just don’t say it. So this is very minor hole of the beginning.

Re: Matter of Determination

wa alaikum salam brother LKK

you are right to say fear Allah SWT in all matters. sometimes our tongues can be a cause of doom to us, may Allah have mercy on us. perhaps i under estimate this aspect, with permission of Allah i will re-evaluate my decisions. JazakAllah for sharing.

your questions are very general so i will reply in general, although i do think you have more specific cases on which you are thinking about. i’d like to know what they are

firstly the patience prescribed by Allah SWT is not the lame patience (of today) but it incoperates both the day of judgement and matters to be decided in dunya

** … But if you are patient and fear Allah - indeed, that is of the matters [worthy] of determination**."

tafsir ibn kathir says:
*(but if you persevere patiently, and have Taqwa, then verily, that will be a determining factor in all affairs.) *
Therefore, Allah commanded the believers to be forgiving, patient and forbearing until He brought His awaited aid.
Tafsir Ibn Kathir - Quran Tafsir - The Believer is Tested and Hears Grieving Statements from the Enemy

the aid came in the battle of Badr with victory

the overiding theme, in my opinion, is the patience incoperates all that Islam commands and stands (firmly) upto falsehood

indeed all those involved against Islam were overcome

so the patience incoperates the wish to overcome

(not a comprehensive list)

  1. Allah SWT
Allah mocks at them and gives them increase in their wrong-doing to wander blindly. 2:15

  2. Prophet Nuh AS
…"If you mock at us, so do we mock at you likewise for your mocking. 11:38

  3. Prophet Ibraheem AS

  4. Hassan bin Thabit
    (requested by the Prophet SAW)

Except those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous deeds, and remember Allah much, and vindicate themselves after they have been wronged [by replying back in poetry to the unjust poetry (which the pagan poets utter against the Muslims)]. And those who do wrong will come to know by what overturning they will be overturned 26:227

labelling disbelievers
(not a comprehensive list)

  1. Allah SWT

It is only those who believe not in the Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah, who fabricate falsehood, and it is they who are liars 16:105

On the Day when Allah will resurrect them all together (for their account); then they will swear to Him as they swear to you (O Muslims). And they think that they have something (to stand upon). Verily, they are liars! 58:18

And never (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) pray (funeral prayer) for any of them (hypocrites) who dies, nor stand at his grave. Certainly they disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger, and died while they were Fasiqun (rebellious, - disobedient to Allah and His Messenger 9:84

  1. The Prophet SAW

Narrated Nu’aym ibn Mas’ud: I heard the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) say when he read the letter of musaylimah: What do you believe yourselves? They said: We believe as he believes. He said: I swear by Allah that were it not that messengers are not killed, I would cut off your heads. abu dawood

  1. Abu Bakr RA

…“By Allah! I will fight those who differentiate betweenthe prayer and the Zakat as Zakat is the compulsory right to be taken from the property (according to Allah’s orders) By Allah! If they refuse to pay me even a she-kid which they used to pay at the time of Allah’s Apostle . I would fight with them for withholding it”… Bukhari

  1. Umar RA

if Umar RA had believed the person who requested him to rejudge the matter already dealt with by the Prophet SAW was a muslim, Umar RA would not have been permitted to kill him

Important, Between Muslims:

O you who believe! Let not a group scoff at another group, it may be that the latter are better than the former. Nor let (some) women scoff at other women, it may be that the latter are better than the former. Nor defame one another, nor insult one another by nicknames. How bad is it to insult one’s brother after having Faith *. And whosoever does not repent, then such are indeed Zalimun (wrong-doers, etc.).

O you who believe! Avoid much suspicion; indeed some suspicions are sins. And spy not, neither backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it (so hate backbiting) . And fear Allah. Verily, Allah is the One Who forgives and accepts repentance, Most Merciful 49:11-12

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle said, "If a man says to his brother, O Kafir (disbeliever)!’ Then surely one of them is such (i.e., a Kafir). " Bukhari*

Re: Matter of Determination

the purpose of sharing with you how the Islamic borders were extended was so that you could understand what was commanded from the Believers. so, whose side would you be on those conquests?

[QUOTE]
it was spread because of its principles and high morals and values of its adherents that were unheard of in those dark ages.

the deen has not changed

Re: Matter of Determination

what sort of twisted question is this? my stance unlike maudodi sahib's is that Islam (the deen) has spread through the revolution that prophet muhammad(pbuh) had brought about within his followers and extraordinary positive impact they imparted on others. the impact that was not the result of the fear of the sword but the impact that lasted long. I was not saying anything against the wars muslims had to fight in the early days of Islam.

the deen has not changed

true but its adherents have

Re: Matter of Determination

Peace shardmanny,

I didn’t understand this part. Will u plz explain it further. :hat:

Re: Matter of Determination

salam LKK,

i’ll pass on further explanation on those specific points because ive made my point. you asked a question i think its been answered

however i actually agree your method as outlined here:

you are a Allah fearing man, you met a servant of Allah, you helped him. great thats is good, thats islam

however not everyone is the same, not every situation is the same.
how about:

you met a (fictious) people who said we nearly agree with three of your hadiths, we do not need anything else from your religion, announce to your people that we are muslims so that we may invite them to our way

or

you met a (fictious) people who said we carried out a maths test on your Book from Allah, we found two verses which do not belong to it, announce to your people that we are muslims, so that we may explain to the believing people how your prophet and his disciples misunderstood the book

^woe to them, these are fools

so your kind dealing with ‘so and so servant (of Allah)’ is good, it is THE way to invite but also Blessed are the believing men who deal with ‘so and so enemy (of Allah)’ appropriately

there are some people on whom Allah SWT has:

set a seal on their hearts

and

it doesnt matter if you warn them or not, they will not believe

they

believe not, but a little

they may:

take up your book in the morning so that they may make you turn back at the end of the day

instead of saying:

believe as the people (Muhajareen and Ansar) have believed

they say:

shall we believe as the fools have believed

from your opening post, although i do not believe it is the case, it can be read to insinuate you label brothers who warn of plots against Islam as extremists

Ameen

Re: Matter of Determination

Peace shardmanny,

:jazak: . In that case to end a discussion, verses from chapter 109 very well explained.
