This is exactly what the producers of the film wanted. Publicity for free. And we Muslims fall into that “Salman Rushdie” kind of trap once again. :rolleyes:
First things first...Allah is NOT a name...Allah stands for 'The God'...Our God Allah (SWT) has no name...He is without a name...All those other 99 'names' of Allah are not names but His attributes or qualities...'Al' in Arabic means 'The' and 'Lah' in Arabic means 'God'...The bibles in Arabic have the same word...Does that mean that the Christians worship our Lord? No...Jesus is a name, Mohammed is a name, Moses is a name...Allah is not a name...Allah in His Majestic Wisdom has kept his name hidden from the humans for this precise reason so as not be ridiculed by anyone... But I will ask around and see what the scholars say...You see I loved Matrix...It was a very symbolic movie to me even as a Muslim...But, we'll see...

As though a super international block buster like “Matrix” would not get publicity anyway 
I don’t think it should cause too much of a riot. Even if it does, it may make people want to learn about islam more. For example, in the Salman rushdie case, who knows how many thousands of non-muslims started to read up on Islam and became Muslim eventually.
Not trying to make light of it, it just shows how powerful and significant and superior Islam is at a world level. A scholar once told me that Allah may use any means to spread this message of truth, people will become muslims even through wrong means, its just the nature of ISLAM, truth spreads regardless. Say good things or bad things about it, Islam has to span the globe regardless inshallah, it has the Supreme power Allah backing it.

There are so many muslims who would pay and watch it regardless of this... i reckon he probably just is muslim but doesnt care !

The character which has Allah's name is evil in this film, now having the name Allah makes mock not only of the name but also of Muslims!
