Another question has arose in my mind as im thinking about the things to go in my hospital bag, i know im only 27 weeks along and got a while to go but I thought i’ll shop around and try to find bargains
So maternity towels or normal sanitary towels? is there much difference? and how many packs would I need?
1 pack of maternity towels (i think 12 towels in 1 pack) should be enough. Maternity towels are bigger in size and are more absorbent for all that blood after the birth. Buy a pack of disposable briefs too.
The hospital gave me stuff too but I broke into rashes for using their mesh underwear so two days after the delivery I had to buy my own things. So make sure you do have some extra available as well.
everyone bleeds! whether its a C section or a normal delivery.
i loved the disposable underwear the hospital gave after my C. it was the most comfortable thing ever. initially, you kind of have to use the pads the hospital gives- they're HUGE and for good reason, there's a lot of bleeding.
by the time i came home 4 days later, i was using the overnight, heavy flow pads. i found the always infiniti's were amazing and so absorbent. i didn't stop bleeding/spotting until almost 2-3 months after the birth so for now, get at least 2-3 packs of the heavy overnight flow pads and you should be good for the first couple of weeks.
i know everone bleeds lol what i was asking was is there a set time frame where u bleed?
our hospital is pretty crap tbh so dont think they will supply the pads but i will check with the midwife. ive seen the normal maternity towels which have no wings which could be a issue for me as i dont get on too well with pads without wings… i have accidents if you know what i mean
ill be sure to check out the always infinitis.
2-3 months…thats a long time! i get fed up with periods
Just be sure to use cotton ones the first few days and avoid the ones with plastic surface.
The maternity ones are big so no need of wings, but as you are bleeding very heavely the first few days, u sure will have a few accidents. Doesnt matter.
Okay, stupid question coming up.......how come you still bleed after a C section?
During a c- section they are manipulating the uterine cavity. There are contractions and all that going on even if you do not deliver vaginally, there will be sloughing off the inner uterine layer and cut up vessels and then the hormonal changes after delivery. All this will lead to vaginal bleeding.
I am not sure how it will differ from the bleeding after a normal delivery in terms of duration and how heavy it actually is.I think it is variable .
