Material question

curious is jamawar fabric suitable for moving around in? i wore a silk outfit to a friend’s wedding and didn’t even dance and somehow when i got home i realize there was a tear by the sleeve under my arm. i mean i did clap a lot and throw flowers but that was it. so now i’m scared to order anything in silk because as a girl we are always rushing around and serving drinks, checking on guests, playing with kids and ya i’m scare of another silk suit ripping on me. the sleeves were not tight or fitted.

what fabrics are good to wear when you know you will be dancing. be it at a dholki, mendhi, sangeet whatever.

Silk doesn't tear that easily, I run around and live in it for over 5-6 hours. Jamavar is pretty sturdy.. neither should tear.. if there's a lot of tugging and pulling it may pull-away from the seams though. Jamavar is gorgeous go for it!

Re: Material question

Yea, was the tear at the seam? If so it's most likely that the tailoring wasn't great. Cheaper tailors don't always do interlocking etc.

I would make sure the armpit isn't too tight when you give measurements. I think super fitted clothes aren't a great idea when you know you're going to be moving around a lot ( I know this wasn't an issue with yours).
I run around with my camera so I like stuff I can move in, therefore most of my wearing to shaadi clothes are chiffon (crinkle, chiffon jamawar, chiffon banarsi); the fabric itself has a little more give and they are light and flowly, they also don't need to be really fitted to drape and hang well on the body.

well when i saw my best friend's sister's churidar slit i was just scared away from silk, but in the case of my sleeves they were not fitted, i bought the outfit from an aunty of mine but didn't adjust the sleeves or anything so i suppose it was on her tailor. hmm ok good to know that this is a safe fabric. thanks ladies
