**Sri Lanka face pivotal Kiwi test **

Qualifiers Sri Lanka must return to winning ways in Group B against New Zealand on Friday to have any hope of remaining in the Champions Trophy.

They saw a 10-match unbeaten run come to an end against Pakistan on Tuesday and skipper Mahela Jayawardene said: "We gave everything we had.

“But it’s not over for us. There are a few games left so we’ll see.”

New Zealand should retain the team that beat South Africa, with Shane Bond, Scott Styris and Mark Gillespie out.

The wicket in Mumbai was heavily criticised by both sides after the New Zealand-South Africa match, and an adhesive will be sprayed on to the surface in attempt to avoid it breaking up.

Re: Match 5: Newzealand vs Srilanka @ Mumbai- Friday Oct. 20th

So which team winning will make our chances better to advance to semi finals? Whoever that is, I'm rooting for...however I think SL will win.

Re: Match 5: Newzealand vs Srilanka @ Mumbai- Friday Oct. 20th

NZ winning will be good for Pakistan's chances.

Re: Match 5: Newzealand vs Srilanka @ Mumbai- Friday Oct. 20th

Of course NZ.

Re: Match 5: Newzealand vs Srilanka @ Mumbai- Friday Oct. 20th

Both are very competitive teams. It will be hard to root for either. Nevertheless, I am likely to lean towards the underdogs side, but either way, whoever plays the best cricket shall be deservant of such opportunity.

Short rivalries to look for -

Lou Vincent vs. Tharanga/Jayasuriya
Vaas vs. Mills
Muralitharan vs. Vettori

^
Muralitharan vs. Vettori will be interesting to see.

Re: Match 5: Newzealand vs Srilanka @ Mumbai- Friday Oct. 20th

If Shane Bond is not playing then I think Kiwis are doomed, SL will very likely thrash'em

Re: Match 5: Newzealand vs Srilanka @ Mumbai- Friday Oct. 20th

Bond shud just retire, he recovers and gets injured shortly after.

Re: Match 5: Newzealand vs Srilanka @ Mumbai- Friday Oct. 20th

They thrashed SA without Bond, so no worry.

^Fluke.

Re: Match 5: Newzealand vs Srilanka @ Mumbai- Friday Oct. 20th

That was SAffies on sub-continental pitch.... SLs are supposed to be better on these pitches compared to 'foreigners' .

Re: Match 5: Newzealand vs Srilanka @ Mumbai- Friday Oct. 20th

it will be good for us if NZ wins, however i have a feeling that SL will sneak thru.Tournament is getting interesting now.

Re: Match 5: Newzealand vs Srilanka @ Mumbai- Friday Oct. 20th

I think SL is way better than NZ and they'll win. But it'll be a good contest.

Re: Match 5: Newzealand vs Srilanka @ Mumbai- Friday Oct. 20th

I am supporting NZ for two reasons, their win makes Pakistan's chances of qualifiying that much more easy and secondly I just don't like SL.

Re: Match 5: Newzealand vs Srilanka @ Mumbai- Friday Oct. 20th

Any particular reasons why you don't like them? :)

Re: Match 5: Newzealand vs Srilanka @ Mumbai- Friday Oct. 20th

Ridiculous cricket by Vincent. Horrible selection, two in two matches.

Jayawardene captured the opportunity hands-on and very early. Creative thinking by the skipper.

Re: Match 5: Newzealand vs Srilanka @ Mumbai- Friday Oct. 20th

56/3
