Re: match 3 DLF CUP Australia vs India 16 September
Australia are again showing why they are the world champions. Knowing the fragile and unpredictable nature of our batting, the same thing could so easily have happened to Pakistan today. Australia just never give up and remember that this team is missing atleast 4 of their first-choice players (Lee, Gilchrist, Symonds and Hussey). I don't rate Katich very highly. I mean even if the Aussies get bowled out for under 200 they will fight to the end and no team can take victory for granted. They are just so mentally tough.
Re: match 3 DLF CUP Australia vs India 16 September
Asif: I don't think it's Australia's mental toughness that had anything to do with India's plight. After all, they have only bowled seven overs so far, and of those, only last two the ones where all hell broke loose. Instead, it was India's mental weakness under the conditions that has led to their collapse.
You are however, right in saying that Pakistan could have very well fallen to a similar kind of collapse under similar conditions. And that too would have been becuase of Pakistan's own mental problems and not becuase of Australians.
Heck, I think after the loss of two quick wickets with 170 to get in 29 overs, ANY team is likely to get in this mess. Even the Australians. Siht happens. It has been happening a lot to us Pakistanis lately, but I guess Cricket gods have decided to spread it around a bit.
Re: match 3 DLF CUP Australia vs India 16 September
The reason for India's recent ODI successes has been Dravid. He's the one who consolidates, holds the wicket and allows the other batsmen to play around him. Dhoni, Pathan and Tendulkar are the ones who share the limelight for hitting their strokes, but he has been the one enabling them to do so, and not given enough credit for it. You get Dravid out, you have half-won the match already. The only other person in the Indian team who "offers resistance" is Suresh Raina, and he's quite new, so gotta see how he developes.
Re: match 3 DLF CUP Australia vs India 16 September
^ I agree with you totally. And the same is very true about Pakistan. You get the two Y's out early and the opposition have more or less won the match. Inzi for all his brilliance lacks the stamina to play a long innings. When was the last time he scored even 80 in a ODI? That is probably also one of the reasons why he prefers to bat at 5 instead of 4. With Pakistan there is always a worry that they can collapse badly anytime and they have infact made it a habit of collapsing in pressure games (cf. WC Final 1999, NatWest Final 2001, last ODI v England)
Re: match 3 DLF CUP Australia vs India 16 September
Oh and by the way, I am perhaps the only one in the world who doesn't think that Australia are as good as everyone rates them. Australia has enjoyed the benefits of a unique period in Cricket history, when pretty much everyone besides them was going through a rebuilding phase.
Australia has had batting collapses, has had bowling problems, and has suffered from fielding problems too. (heck, they dropped about 11 catches in their last series against Pakistan). But a combination of other teams going through a rebuilding phase, UMPIRES, playing MORE at home than abroad has helped them stay at the top.
WI of the 80s were a truely great team. Australia of the 2000s has been a beneficiary of situations and conditions!
Indian media (CricInfo et al) have played a huge role in hyping up Australia, and now everyone believes it. When they drop catches, they are just having a bad day. When they bowl bad, they are just rusty, and when they collapse, they are just being complacemnt and allowing the other teams to have a chance.
Re: match 3 DLF CUP Australia vs India 16 September
dude, just focus on India.....dont worry abt Pakistan........the fact of the matter is that right now your team is embarassed, humiliated and shocked...why dont you worry abt that inspite discussing Pakistani team......:D :D
Re: match 3 DLF CUP Australia vs India 16 September
Woke up and saw the only 3 overs when Johnson destroyed Indian batting (added in videos forum)
Really hoping that tounament officials, ICC and 3 boards will think sensibly and change the match timings during the second half of the tournament. I don't know it is possible or not, but there definitely are less chances of rain interruption during a day match.

woohooo great…my wish came thru..Allah is so merciful…NO BODY WON!!! … ![]()

Re: match 3 DLF CUP Australia vs India 16 September
australia should have lost both games, they have'nt performed at their best, may be its the pressure of playing against australia which gets to guys.
Re: match 3 DLF CUP Australia vs India 16 September
Your anger is misdirected
I am a Pakistani (You should have guessed that from my name:) ) and I just think that both India and Pakistan have a psychological thing with the Aussies and tend to collapse in pressure games.
Re: match 3 DLF CUP Australia vs India 16 September
U have? I never said India is lucky, I said that they have a habit of edging for sixes and getting wickets off full tosses.
