Masters or Work?

i gave you my answer in another thread in CA :snooty:

It seems funding for Arts MA's is hard to come by. I will apply at the right time, but in reality I dont expect a positive return.

In which case, perhaps a p/t MA whilst funding myself with a f/t job seems the best option.

No?

Re: Masters or Work?

World outside of College life is a lot different. I would seriously agree with Umar here. Get out there get some experience. Whats the point of getting masters and not having a job. Employers want to see experience. What can you bring to their company besides your books. They want to see hands on training. I know atleast 10 + people who are out of jobs right now just because they don't have experience.
Working with a company makes you very sharp and basically get you at the top easily. You will be amazed more than 50+ times the person who will be interviewing you does not even have a masters. If you are a good worker you will be surprise how many companies out there are willing to pay for your education.

Re: Masters or Work?

If you really want to do your Masters now then do it as you work, find a job first so you can fund it yourslef, this "lazi-ish" excuse is stupid

Re: Masters or Work?

I would definitely choose to work before doing Master's. Like some other guppies already mentioned, this gives you the opportunity to explore your interests in the same field or a different field.

Re: Masters or Work?

Ok guys here's the situation at this point.

I'm taking a year our to work/get some experience for my CV. In the mean time, I have much time spare, I am thinking of undertaking some sort of voluntary work in my old school, is that a good idea?

Also, is DJ a good career move?
