How is this any different than what Musharraf did during his last "emergency" tirade? When Musharraf was blocking free speech, the entire nation went up in arms.
So now where are the human rights activists and the students and the lawyers? Or did Zardari pay them all to keep their mouth shut this time around...or was someone paying them during Musharaff's time to be as loud as possible?

Its not any different. I think you missed some recent news. Musharraf praising PPP/Zardari (NRO magic)... And yes, the entire nation is up in arms, and this time its actually a stronger movement than it ever was during Musharraf's time.

err, all the detentions were primarily lawyers, politicians, and civil society people.

They are more vocal, as mentioned previously. Musharraf ki rooh ab Zardari me agayi hai.
Its something about being the leader of the world's only reasonably functioning muslim country that has the world's 7th largest army and a nuclear arsenal to boot. Everyone who takes that leadership position has met temptation and allowed it to take over.
No, I wasn't following the news for the past two weeks, so I have no idea the extent to which demonstrations have been held.
I'm not seeing it being widely reported in some of the WEstern media the way it was during Musharraf's time.
So Musharraf, Zardari...now who's next to be president?

We've done that before, and will do it again. Such an important position goes a properly democratically elected leader who has a clean track record and keeps his promises.

Perhaps you should do some reading then, ALOT has happened in the last few weeks.

Maybe you are drawing an unfair conclusion, its certainly more in the limelight than it was in Musharraf's time, and plus this new movement just kicked off recently and it wont rest until the judiciary is restored.

Hopefully someone better than those two clowns for sure. Plenty of people in the PPP who can do a better job than these two criminals/thugs.
