It depends. There are some really good Hindus too - I've not had problems with them. Infact, they'd even support you if you are harassed by some Hindu fanatic.
But Fascist Hindus are a large percentage of the population. I actually had a guy in my class who would make of Hinduism, but hated the Muslims with a passion.
On the whole, if you are a practising Muslim, and if you are living in a Hindu locality, I don't think it's a very good picture.

They are my brothers in Islam. Hindus expect you to hate Pakistan and other Islamic nations. And if you don't you stand a chance of being harassed. I've never understood this mentality - I mean nowhere in the Indian constitution does it say that you should hate Pakistan.
If you "haaN maiN haaN milao" with them when the make fun of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Arabistan and other "sick" nations - then you will be tolerated by them (but some fanatics wouldn't tolerate you even then !). But if you protest, you are a traitor, and what not - you are called by many different names.

Again not all Hindus are like that. Had that been the case, there wouldn't have been a single Muslim alive in India today.
You must have noticed here on this forum , many Indian Muslims attacking Pakistanis or repeatedly emphasizing that their loyalty lies with India. But do you see Pakistani Muslims attacking Indian Muslims?

I wonder what the reason for that is. ** Actually, Muslims in India are so much terrorized psychologically , that they have to repeatedly emphasize that they are are loyal Indians and are against Pakistan - just to appease their Hindu masters and assure them that they are not like "those traditional Muslims" - so that they are not harassed.
Don't get me wrong - Not all Hindus are like that. There are some really good people among them. **
And, it depends on the area and culture too. For example, you'll find many Pakistan-sympathisers among the Urdu-Speaking Muslims of Northern India - while in Southern India, it is very rare. Part of the reason is that in South India, Muslims are not discriminated as much as in Northern India. ** But being a Pakistan-Sympathiser doesn't automatically mean you are anti-Indian. Many Muslims love both India and Pakistan. **
Again, I'd make it clear that there are many really good Hindus - I've had some really good Hindu friends. In the absence of such people, probably every single Muslim would've been burnt alive in India.
But there's one point as well - Some people may appear to be good on the outside, but from the inside they might be virulently anti-Muslim. Looks can be deceiving ! I think one of the best ways to know the truth about such people is to see how they behave when they are drunk. You can be surprised how sometimes, some really "innocent and secular Hindus" can start spewing hatred against the Muslims once they are drunk. Infact, I believe that many of the Islam-bashers on this forum, will actually appear to be "good and innocent" people when you meet them in person.
Anyways, I don't mean to stereotype all Hindus. As I said earlier, I've had some really good Hindu friends and I've got only kind words for them.

Again, it depends where you are. Especially in Northern India, you have towns divided into "Muslim-Part" (known as Pakistan) and "Hindu-Part". And it depends on a lot of other things too. I remember I used to get singled out sometimes in grade 11 by some people. But anyways, that's past, and Alhamdulillah, Allah has always kept me safe.

No I don't live in the USA. But I don't live in India either. Yea, it's better here. You face much much much lesser discrimination. And, even after the Sept.11 thing, people do not bother you obsessively.
