This is not the topic of this thread, but in 80’s (in Punjab) there used to be attacks on the mosques of Shias and Sunnis so much so that it became very dangerous to even go pray in the mosques. What we are seeing nowadays is a very dangerous trend.

You are right that both Sunnis and Shias are getting targeted in Pakistan (as Hazaras being Shias got targeted in Quetta), and what I know, perpetrators in both attacks were Kharjees and still Kharjees are spreading terrorism for both Shias and Sunnis.

In November I was in Pakistan and I with my brother went to a Mosque (Sunni mosque) for Quran-khawani of someone who died in our area. There were very few people compared to past days, and I was told that most people are scared to attend Quran-khawni in Mosque (rather, many are even scared to pray in Sunni Mosques) because of Kharjee attacks.

But then, Deobandi, Tabeeghi-Jamaat, and Wahabi (Ahle-hadith) mosques are always safe, as Kharjees belong to these sects so they do not attack these mosques.
