I am not a big fan of zia myself nor am I a die-hard opponent of musharraf ,actually i think the opposition against him esp. the political parties are way more corrupt than him]..and as i said earlier Zia's laws were not perfect either but was positive in a way that atleast some sort of steps were been taken to re-introduce a relic of our past i.e islam] in our govt. a half-arsed approach is not acceptable but similarly a "all-or-none" approach not acceptable either. there is no infalliable amongst us to introduce a perfect system but lets not say that shariah is not practical ...islam was not revealed to be confined to mosques and madrassahs.

I agree with you on many points, but the present system is far from an all-or-none approach. Right now, there are some Pakistani laws that are in accordance with Islam, some that are not (ex. the old Hudood Ordinance - I still don't know whether its been fully mended), and some that are neither Islamic or unIslamic but are just simply unwise (like an absence of good education laws).
