How important do you guys think it is to be involved in the local masjid?
Our masjid here is great!
They have:
-quran classes
-tajweed classes
-arabic classes
-a girls forum
-seerah and fiqh classes
-groups for converts
-seniors group
-craft classes
-bake sales
-basketball, badminton, volleyball and other sports for men and women separate
-yoga for women
-girls swimming (not in the masjid but organized by the masjid)
-2 newspapers incluidng a youth one
There are other activities but I feel that stuff like this is sooo important. What do u guys think?
I think its not just important, its necessary, and not only from pure religious perspective. There is lots of cultural and social aspects that kids learn when they are involved in Masjid activities
We have all the above activities except a few like yoga for women, girls swimming, we have an annul magazine. unfortunatly no bake sale ..but the rest we have. Alahmdollllah and the community are very much into it..
we specially have classes on all levels for the Elders too. from learning Urdu or Qa'ida to learning the qur'aan to Tafsir of the Qur'aan in depth taught by qualified scholars.
It is very important. Our local masjid has similar programs as well. I think it provides the cultural and religious foundation in addition to what we do at home.
Oh wow mahiya your masjid offers a lot of activities. I live in a small community and even though there arent a lot of classes for adults, the families really get involved by bringing their kids in for namaz almost every day. A friend who had never brought her kid in the masjid once did for ramadhan and according to her, he got scared after seeing so many women in hijabs, dupattas etc.
We are hoping to make the masjid an important part of our lives when we have kids InshaAllah.
