Also heard and read in literature related to partition about communal riots due to interruption of prayers because of noise created near masjid. Finally, Muslims got a separate country to offer prayers with getting interrupted.
Now all of us who live in Pakistan, might have experienced Indian songs ringtones in mosques during prayers. Last night, I just found a young guy crossing nearby masjid in car playing some hip hop song at full volume. The Taraveh prayers were going on in a park and people offering prayers could have listened to this hip hop alngwith verses from Quran.
So that is where Pakistani Muslims have reached after 66 years of independence. Independence to freely exercise religion.
yes the situation is quite confusing. We still hear about riots (whether reported or not) on these issues in India and on other hand we all experience music in masajid of Pakistan.

thats another practice and we have discussed it many times. Naat khwani at the expense of disturbing all neighbors (including children, patients, etc) is a common practice in many areas

almost every Masjid has boards requesting to switch off mobiles or keep it silent. Many Pesh Imam (before takbeer) reminds people for this, but still there are circumstances that people forget to do all this.
Once I was on audit of a hospital and having meeting with the senior admin. We had to conduct meeting at staff room (which was also used as tea station) near OPD, as the senior admin (doctors) also conducted OPD. While we were in between discussing some procedure, doctor's mobile start churning out high volume tone of 'Hum ko humi se chura lo'. The face expression of both the junior doctor and senior admin were wroth looking :D
