Re: Masjid-Al-Haraam (Makkah) in Future
The computer renditions are amazing..
Jazakum Allah Khair...
But why must they do all this construction and make it so materialistic...
I am sure the needs of the za-ereen can be met with more humble projects...
too much money being spent for the wrong reasons IMHO....

I may sound like the dumbest guy for arabic words around here inspite of being born and living in an arab country for 14 years.....but does not haraam mean something bad.....why would they name a holy mossque Haraam. !Excuse my lack of knowledge n this regard !
Re: Masjid-Al-Haraam (Makkah) in Future
^ Br / Sr. :
A person never learns if they don't ask. So questions such as yours would not be considered dumb.
The word Haraam as in Masjid-ul-Haraam is from the root word *ha ra ma spelled as huruma or harama *which means 'sacred' or 'having sanctity'.
So Haraam means the 'boundaries of Sanctity' and in religious context it means that 'which is outside the sacred boundaries of deen'.
Simillarly Muharram-ul-Haraam ~ the very sacred month which has sacred limits assigned with it.
I hope this clarifies things for you.

Don't get confused between Urdu and Arabic words. Brother Antumul alona explained it very correctly, Masha Allah.

Yes, more luxury hotels, and high rises is what Makkah needs right now. From reading the description about this project, that is what one can guess.
