^ do you blend onions and tomatoes uncooked with spices and ginger/garlic?

or do you cook onions and tomatoes, then blend and add?

I have done it 2 ways…

1. Cook onions, add tomato and blend, then cook some more

2. Blend onions and tomatoes then cook.

You get different flavor each way
