Do any of you guys like it? I happen to be the only one in my family who likes masala wali chai. I add cardamom, cinnamon and sometimes saunf and a bit of ginger. Saunf has a strong flavor but ginger I can never taste. Stil my chai doesnt taste as good as the ones they make in resturants. What to do?
Any other ideas/recipes? Please share.

i just discovered it last year and find it delicious -- especially in the winter months.

irem i didnt know chai masala bhi milta hai. I might look for it on my next grocery trip.
Razea, caramel is not whats used in desi masala chai i think. But it sure does taste good in startbucks frappacino :)
Sahar: yehi to masla hia, kisi ko recipe nahi malloom. :(
My dad loves masala wali chai, especially in the winter. He usually comes fresh ginger in the boiling water and then adds some strong tea bag. Sometimes he add saunf in it. otherwise he just enjoys it simple.
ira, we make masala wali chai all the time, and traditionally...we always add this caramel stuff to it. its not anything new, we do it in india too. i don't know..but alot of people are not familiar with this practice.
can someone tell me how it is made ? I have an american/gori friend who loves it but she needs the exact recipe so that she can make it for herself.

Hmm....ALeezay, black pepper corns in chai??I dont know how thats gonna taste.
Ira: i never knew how ginger gonna taste in doosh wali chai.. but it tasted really good ... :-) ... by the way.. black pepper give the chai that masala wali touch n it smells good too ....
Aleezay I am so glad I tried pepper corns. I think I have almost perfected the art of making masala tea :D I tried different variations adn this is the best one i have found so far.
1 cup milk
1 cup water
a small piece cinammon stick
1 cardamom pod, deseeded
1 clove
1 pepper corn
1 tea bag
sugar to taste
Put everything except sugar in a pan at low heat. When it boils, simmer for a few minutes. Add sugar and enjoy. I found this pretty close to the stuff they serve at resturants.
Re: Masala wali chai
you guys actually drink that chai? oh my. Anything other than milk, chai bags and water (and sugar) just isnt chai - for me.
Re: Masala wali chai
There are also masala chai tea bags. I got some in a gift set once and they were great!
