martial arts

how many of you ladies can literally kick ass?

Re: martial arts

I really wish I could, I’d love to take up formal training. I do kata-box once a week and my instructor who’s got 3 black belts, thinks I’m really good :halo:. I love kicking and punching and I can kick quite high. The last time he made us squat, and then jump up from that position into a kick - that was tough on the knees.

Re: martial arts

I really would encourage all women to take it up. Ive been going for years and years and we are honestly the only desi girls I have ever seen there - me andmy sister. I was wondering wheither it was my town or a international thing.

I've also not seen desi girls swimming. What is u pwith that. Are you still kicking ass Catty?

Re: martial arts

My parents made me take Karate lessons a couple years ago for “self-defense”. ( so lame :bummer: ) Anyways, I finally got my black belt a few years ago and I quite after receiving my first degree.

I can now break wooden boards. That’s about it.

So, if I am ever attacked by a wooden board, I’ll know just what to do. Thank God I took those classes.

Re: martial arts

I kicked some ass today hiccy, but since I was constipated I couldn't do it with my usual oomph. munching crunchy cornetto cone

Re: martial arts

phatty, that makes two of us. Except the board breaking bakwas. I found it makes me more confident of being able to defend myself in situations where I could be left vulnerable. How long did it take you to get the bacl belt btw? How old were you when you started?

If however it is a board hurtling towards - at least this way you know how to emerge relatively intact.

Catty ... too much info!!

Re: martial arts

hiccy and phati gonna kick some butt :dhimpak: you go girls! :k:

what can I say, I like to have an empty stomach before I work out.

Re: martial arts

Re: martial arts

Re: martial arts

Easy tiger, dont break a nail.

Re: martial arts

I started in like '98 and recieved my black belt within 2 and a half years.
To be honest, I did learn a lot about how to get out of certain situations on my own.

Re: martial arts

Thats amazingly fast phatty - good on you. In my discipline ( and I've been attending since I was about 9 - I recieved the black belt when I was 13/14.) So it took me five years but the training was kinda harsh - the guy was the british middleweight champion at the time and had phycho kids whod show you how to induce a nose bleed (but thats a pleasent story for annother day).

I decided to train for tags after - but yea, im a fatty :p So I quit. I started again about two months ago.

Thats freaking amazing (the two and a half years thing) Welldone!
