yea i was juzz wonderin wat choo all think…since its all pakis up herr (besides renznorr bhai )…do u think its nasty to marry ur first cuzin?…i mean, i know its not against islam or nuttin…but still…juz wanted to kno wat choo all thinkin bout that…
me…i think its rong…cuz ur cuzin is like ur brother or sister…thats how i see my cuzins in pakistan…even tho i only see them like once in 3 years…
plus its illegal in 23 states of the US to marry ur first cuzin…i’m sure thats cuz all tha birth defects and all…but anyways…
yea maybe its cuz i been brought up here and thaz how everyone else sees their cuzins as…
In my family this doesn't happen.....at least within first cousins. I'm happy cuz I could never imagine doing that shudder my cousins are like friends/ brothers. If something does happen in the family its usually "uski-phoppi-ke-beta-ka-sumone ka sumone" its goes faaaaaaaar down. But you know there are still a lotta families in which finding a cousin to marry is first prioriety, and if they can't then they extend out. The only thing I've noticed with cuzins marrying cuzins that it doesn't happen generation after generation (well it isn't as common anymore), which would be when deformalities would arise.
never! you call someone bhai jaan (in most cases its elder bhai's compared to baji's) all your life and then this sudden change.. sounds weird, thats all.
well I am marryin my first cousin and I think there is nuthing wrong in that..guess people start thinkin like that when they live in a society run by ignorant media. Genetically there is no proven evdience that inter-family marriages can result in problems in filial geneartions. Infact we had lots of cousins marriages in the family and they are alls uccesful. SOmetimes marrying outside family can lead to complications so its all in Allah swt hands
Nevertheless, one should try to make use of all possible precautions. Among these precautions, are the modern scientific techniques of genetic tests. These are now available, for marrying couples, to detect the possibility of facing such troubles. Marrying couples can undergo these tests before they getting married. These tests are recommended, not only for cousins, but also for everybody, because even strangers might be exposed to such problems.

Well if some one unknow can become your "SUB KUCH" by just saying "Qabook Hai, Qabool Hai, Qabool Hai" then why cant a known person change his/her role? :)
btw I am not supporting this, Islam has allowed marrying cousines but encouraged us to marry outside the families (tribes)
yeah so thats a plus point..If you are brought up with a person than u know the other person very well... in my case we had a thing for each other for a long time but waiting for the right time..
Actually ,statisctally speaking marrying in family in our society is safer in sense most of the marriages fail when u dont know the know bouts of the person ur gonna marry but of course there are exceptions.
yea i read wat u rote...but uh, i just wanted to let u kno...ur signature...it should say..."roses are red, violets are blue, please flush the toilet AFTER YOU'RE THROUGH"...i think that sounds much better ;)...

thats the point no? you've never known them so you don't have any preconceived feelings. You didn't have any relation with them before specially a 'brotherly' relation.
This has been discussed many many times before and as said before, inter-family marriage increases the risk of autosomal recessive diseases. And the increase in risk is very very slight. Even if you marry your cousine, you will have different genes than him/her. If you talk about genetics, if you marry outside your family you increase the risk of geting genes with diseases that your family does not have. So in the end it comes down to same thing.

Hi! Phatima1,
It is allowed with but and if!!
If you do not find any other than him. Or you love him.
One must avoid as it is genetically not adviseable.

Sokoon before you go on and start advising people ..listen first to what doctors and genetictists say. and after gaining that knowledge u can go around and start preaching people. The practice of cousin marraige has been going not just in our country but many others and has been going on for ages.
So in the end it just comes down to what proudpakistani said. There is an " EQUAL" likehood of gaining diseases wheter u marry inside or outside. and if you are that concernd , you can always consult a health phsyician first before undertaking such a step
People, if there was really such a high risk of deformities within cousin-marriages, then do you think Allah (swt) would have allowed us this option? If it’s allowed in Islam then who are we to say it’s “disgusting” or “ewwwwww”?
I don’t think there is anything wrong wtih marrying a cousin as long as you didn’t grow up with them as brother and sister.
I personally will marry a cousin. He won’t be my cousin, but he will be someone else’s
although allowed in islam i don't believe in or agree with cousin marriages. i've grown up with my cousins and spent about 9 years our lives together and thought of marrying my cousin one day sickens me, ofcourse this is my nukta-e-nazar.
Thank You !!! Atleast there’s someone who makes sense
If God has permitted it, it can’t be wrong, physically, or otherwise. Who’d you trust more, some Genetic engineer who doesn’t even understand a single strand of DNA completely or Allah (SWT) who created us all?
