marrying in Pakistan..

Hi

I would like to seek opinion of sisters went through same. It is quite common that Pakistani girls marrying oversea but how about other way round (it does happens but what happen to their life and careers?)

My 23 years old friend born in Karachi raised in an Asian country (lets say Singapore) after getting a degree in Business. Have a fantastic job in one of the top IT company in the world.

Now family looking for her rishta in Pakistan, although she also prefers marrying someone with Pakistani, but wondering that given her professional and personal background it there possibility of finding compatible person there.

Please do not get her wrong, problem is that she visiting Pakistan every years during holidays and has following observations:-

  1. Our society is becoming highly “class” conscious and she could not accept this kind of social values.
  2. Again due to this so called class syndrome only privileged (in most cases) or rich families could afford there sons that kind of education which offers there children successful professional career.
  3. She also noticed it is common in so called privileged class children to indulge in drugs and drinking also big no for her.
  4. Although she raised oversea, but has very high moral and ethical values, (never attached to any one of opposite sex) but still studying and working in co society means interacting or having casual relationships with them. Would this be a problem for her?
  5. She seems to be on course of a successful career with a US MNC (she even declined job offers for companies like IBM), in case of marrying in Pakistan what would happen her career aspirations?
  6. Given a standard to education in Pakistan is it possible to find a guy for her qualified enough to compitable for her?

I would apprecaite if any of sister could share her openion on this.

Best regards.

Re: marrying in Pakistan..

Just to add her friends experience who married (arranged by family) to someone in Pakistan the person is really very nice, left his bank job in Karachi moved here but unfortunately his qualification has no value here. Now is only working person and having husband at house doing futile job search.

I do not want her to end up same thing.

Re: marrying in Pakistan..

i just didn't get ur concerns. She can find good families n highly educated guys in Pakistan. and if married into reasonable n broadminded family can still pursue her carrier.

Thanks for reply.

My reason of asking this

1)To learn from others experience.

2)She noticed that so called "highly educated" n "broad minded" guy if from well off echelon of society, has there own problems such as" class syndrome" (it is not she is from poor family background, as family is living in Clifton and extensive business (must admit her other family residing in Pakistan might have same issue as well), as well as indulging undesirable activities like drinking (and even drug) which is big no to her.

She was surprise to see there are some girls from Pakistan (working with same company) also drinks n smokes.

On other side many "reasonable n broadminded families" having middle class background, may still have same values, but they might not be professionally qualified up to desired level. (I just shared case of her friends as example).

Thanks anyway.

Re: marrying in Pakistan..

watever u or ur friend thinks is all assumptions n opinions not facts just coz she came across jerks doesn't mean ppl living in pak who hav money n edu r like that. such ppl exist all around the world. u or ur friend never met good educated n welloff families i hav to say

Re: marrying in Pakistan..

If she thinks she is so good for everyone, then she can stay in her "Asian" country.

how about middle class educated people

To me they are the best, good educated and not spoil by new earned money. that's what we are looking at right now.

Dear friend

You do not have to be rude, rightly or wrongly she is worried about her future. And you must appreciate even growing in such an open society still has strong connection with back home and willing to relocate back.

I hope you understand most of (not all though) young peoples grown up in westernize societies are not willing to to return.

I have seen so many parents looking to "import" son in laws because their daughters flatly refuse to settle back in Pakistan.

On her side at least career, position, and family wealth did not effected her, all she is looking for someone who is good, bright yet not snobbish due to his status. what is wrong with this?

While she has are weakness but again thing is so special with me, despite living here almost whole her life she is not "tainted" things associated with young peoples of today.

Thanks for contribution anyway.

That what i told her, but on other side, you needed to understand that if you hang around in Clifton and defense area and meet young people there. Who else you are going to see?

Do you really walking around and see, just meet students from so called "good privet schools like Karachi Grammar or St. Micheals" and see how they look at their counterparts studying at normal government schools?

There is no shortage of good peoples, but mostly either from middle class professional families not yet tainted with new found wealth.

In all she needed support and understanding because (rightly or wrongly) she is fearful about unknown.

Thanks anyway.
