married a deaf partner

Re: married a deaf partner

I actually know another family...father is deaf.

His wife and kids all know sign language and communicate with him that way...all their kids are normal and doing well Mashallah.

Re: married a deaf partner

i think if he wants to get green card, then she know his english is not very excellent to achieve, it can be done after 10 years when he comes to UK then he can get residence, usually UK offer 2 years but she decides to wait till 110 years so he can understood fully what everything mean and can easy pass his citizen exam.
what do you think?
she goes to pakistan and meet the guy before marriage , if agree , then she comes back to UK to resume her study while waiting for his visa.
i hope he will not use her to get green card but really care and love her a lot.

Re: married a deaf partner

Yeah...should consider a guy with all the senses. At least one person in the new household should be hearing..just in case there is an alarm or something.

Re: married a deaf partner

^ I agree. I actually think it would be better for her to marry a hearing person. I heard sign language is pretty easy to pick up as well so shouldn't be too many problems inshAllah :)

Re: married a deaf partner

she uses hearing aid so it is no problem, but at night she takes it off so she can;t hear anything, it is useful to have someone to alert her if something happen.
mostly relatives i met learn alphabet then forget because it is too hard. for me i learnt sign language very easy and still remember even though i don;t meet my cousin regularly. she understand me better than her mom/sister because i got sign language class of Level 2 better than their mom. i hope her husband will improve sign language better rather than basic. whenever possible i will teach him when she wants to do.
