Are u Sunni? I think the general Islamic consenus is that it's not allowed but I am aware that there are differences within Shias regarding the number of times they pray etc and if it was someone with whom there weren't major differences I don't see why it would be a problem. One of our Sunni friends (girl) married a Shia boy tho and both sets of parents were ok with it but dunno how widespread it is and if parents tend to accept it or not. Is it something ur considering? A girl I used to know was a Shia Ismaili (Aga Khan Muslims) and as well as only praying 3 times a day their sect had banned the hijab and their definiton of modest dress was different, now obviously if one of them married into a v.religius Sunni family there would prob be major problems..

i have a shia friend who married a sunni girl..., both practice their sect although my friend is not very religious, his wife is, she is very punctual in her prayers & all, it was funny once i went to their house for iftar.., me & her wife had iftar according to Fiqah-Hanfia timings while he waited for 10-15 mins more.., they are mashallah very happy more importantly their families are ok with it..., they recently had a daughter I wonder which sect she will practice

Shia, Suni, Wahabi, Bahai, Druze etc. There are too many Muslim sects! Sometimes I hear there are 13, sometimes 72! How many different types of Muslims are there?!
I am not any type of Muslim. I am just a Muslim who believes in Allah Ta'lah swt, the last messenger pbuh and the teachings of the Quran.
There are no types of Muslims. At least there are not meant to be.

Shia, sunni, all sects, and then castes - all artificial standards we have set for judging and rating people when it comes to finding mates and partners. Shameful!

I have seen a few couples like that. For most people, initially things are all well but serious problems arise when they are raising kids and each parent wants the kids to be taught according to their own sect. Be sure to 'contract' for that before going ahead.

i dont think there will be a problem between families, I have seen sunni girls married to shias and shia girls married to sunnis.
when it comes to raising the kids whoever has the power to say in this decision, will have end results. shia mothers mostly results in kids being shias. and vice versa. it all depends how religious and strict is the parent half!
