I just wanna know from those of you who got married outside of Canada and then sponsored their spouse, did you register your marriage in canada once your spouse arrived ? or just the nikkah naama from pakistan is good enough to show as a proof here in canada or US that you are married ?

In the US you have to go do a civil ceremony in front of a judge who gives you a cert. which you take to the court to get a license.

dude wot are u talking about… u can’t sponser them unless u show proof they r ur spouse. So the question doesn’t make sense. In other words you have to register your marriage and show proof the person you are sponsoring is ur spouse. As for wot constitutes as valid proof, i’ll have to luk into it and get back to you, but i know this much that now they want pics of the bride and groom together.

it says u need photocopy of ur marriage certificate in order to sponsor ur spouse… but i’m sure there are other requirements.

Pakistani marriage is considered enough, as far as Nikah nama is tranlated in English & is certifed the by the Canadian High Commission in Pakistan.
My sister never had to re-marry in Canada - Pakistani nikah-nama is enough for her there in Canada.

dude… Pakistani Nikkah Namma is enough to sponsor wife to canada. I know it cuz i sponsored my wife and she came here last year.
The thing that i was asking is if we need to register the marriage here in canada or not…thanks anyways..
