Mark Boucher

Mark Boucher against Bangladesh took back his wicketkeeping record for most test dismissals ever that Gilchrist borrowed for a month and a half.

With Gilchrist retired, and Boucher only 31, Boucher should be able to put the record away from most future wicketkeepers by increasing it to more than 600.

Re: Mark Boucher

Kamran Akmal is younger than him, he will have a good chance of beating this record.

Re: Mark Boucher

don’t think so. they way he’s been performing for the last 1-2 years, hes got a MUCH better chance of GET BEATEN by a fed up fan/supporter than anything else. :chai:

Re: Mark Boucher

Did you honestly believe me that this joker can beat Bouchers record?

What do you think Man with a Plan about Akmals chances of equalling, beating or even coming closer to Bouchers record?

Re: Mark Boucher

Boucher is still a shmuck when it comes to keeping (I have seen him drop some absolute sitters). Even Sangakkara is more consistent than him as a keeper.

Re: Mark Boucher

Can't be too much of a "shmuck" if he holds the record....

Best keeper I saw was Ray Jennings who made Alan Knott look like an amateur. Unfortunately nowadays keepers are selected more for their batting than for their keeping. One international keeper of South Africa stated that the present gloves are more like bassball gloves and has much larger webbing than years back. Sometimes one would like technological advances to be curtailed.

Re: Mark Boucher

The most surprising thing is that the sporting world is entirely quiet about Boucher. We ofen hear that Gilly is the next best thing after baked bread for wicket keeping.
Boucher in his own unassuming way has proved that silence can build wonders..

Re: Mark Boucher

Today's cricket demands a keeper who can bat well. Boucher is a mediocre batsman.

Re: Mark Boucher

I, on the other hand, think that Boucher is a very gritty batsman, a real fighter. It's just that he's not as good a keeper as the other ones out there (Seamer friendly wickets in South Africa and Australia help keepers pile these records up. How many keeping dismissals do you expect on patta tracks where the ball doesn't even reach the slips?).
