NBC" – SAN DIEGO – At a panel discussion in San Diego Tuesday, a top Marine general tells an audience that, among other things, it is “fun to shoot some people.”
The comment, made by Lt. Gen. James Mattis, came in reference to fighting insurgents in Iraq. He went on to say, “Actually, its a lot of fun to fight. You know, it’s a hell of a hoot. I like brawling.”
“You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for 5 years because they didn’t wear a veil,” Mattis continued. “You know, guys like that ain’t got no manhood left anyway. So it’s a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them.”
About 200 people gathered for the discussion, held at the San Diego Convention Center. While many military members laughed at the comments, a military expert interviewed by NBC 7/39 called the comments “flippant.”
“I was a little surprised,” said Retired Vice Adm. Edward H. Martin. “I don’t think any of us who have ever fought in wars liked to kill anybody.”
Guess there you have it folks the amerikkkans have finally told us there true feelings and these same cold bloody killers are the same killers who want to control places like Iraq and afghanistan !
Just wait a bit and he will get a medal, just like the Captain of the US navy ship Vincennes (I think) which shot an Iran Air plane out of the sky killing all on board (around 250 if I remember well).
How does this statement made by US general about shooting a terrorst comapare with, say, "This is not 70s, they won't know what hit them" spoken by the COAS of PAK. army about their own people?

I am assuming you are referring to my post. I agree that I was off -topic, but many of the pakisatanis are qiuck to stone others without realizing that they live in glass house themselves. Mushy as a COAS made much worse a statement than that US Marine, do you agree? I thought that the poster of this thresd had nothing to point except for the fact that ‘we are better than you’ or ‘Americans are Evil’. I think Americans care more for their countrymen and are more honest than MOST of the pakisatanis on this forum.

Coming back to the topic, these particular comments are not only tasteless, but bring forward either a very naive Marine General or one who just went over-board to impress his audience and appear cool. Americans can never be accused of understanding and appreciating the local customs and traditions of places they invade, but in this case, the funny thing is the rationale provided for killing them.

What kinda assbackward mentality is that? Alright, I can understand why you dislike men who beat their women, but when the same men, accept money from you and become American ally, then it doesn’t matter how many women he slaps.. he is a friend. US over-turned Taliban rule by making deals with Taliban warlords, and now we are told those men have no manhood left, but we still love them to bits.
I think it is plain idiotic to criticise this general for saying the truth - he was eradicating these terrorist roaches and wasn't gonna feel guilty about it.

Better to have the guys fighting it that enjoy it. So let's see, if I had one of the former Taliban in MY cross hairs, the people who gave shelter to OBL, would I pull the trigger and feel no remorse? How about some guy who dismembered a western aid worker? I would imagine most soldiers and marines do not have a lot of sleepless nights over the killing of people of this ilk with a weapon in their hand.
Did the General stick his foot in his mouth? Yup. Are there a hundred mosques where worse is said? Yup.
