In a very public display of disapproval, the Argentina President Cristine Fernandez has been barred from attending the ex-PM’s funeral. It comes as no surprise, because it was under Thatcher’s watch that the Falklands Islands saw British Armed Forces display show of power to Argentina. The dispute still goes on, and Argentinian President has been actively campaigning to free the Falkland Islands.
That’s just a little bit of a snapshot of the history between the two persons, and two countries. Now on to who is coming. Cameron Munter said that invitation were/will be sent to all countries with which Britain enjoys normal diplomatic relations.
Does that include North Korea and Iran? They both do, afterall, have consulates/embassies in Britain.
Would be interesting to see a list of expected/confirmed dignitaries from various countries. Expect Pakistani President to be first to volunteer to attend
