Re: mard khana nahi pakateye
I think there is a misconception among us that it is haraam for men to help their wives in chores. If you take the example of the Prophet (S.A.W), I cannot think of any hadith where the Prophet said you cannot help your wife in chores. Whenever Ammi is not home and there is nothing to eat, I sometimes make something for the rest of the household. Nothing wrong with that. When it comes to cooking to feed your family, I believe and will always believe that it is the responsibility of a man to feed his family and provide them with shelter and food. It is not the duty of the wife to work outside while her husband stays home. Ofcourse this situation is not the same as where man cannot find a job and is trying hard and in the meantime, the wife is working to support her husband and family.
Having said this, I think nothing wrong with cooking as long as you are doing it to help out in the house hold and not to stay home and cook while your wife can go outside and earn for you when it is your responsibility.

Re: mard khana nahi pakateye
well said, hum hein la jawab.
& to further validate the division of labor, i'ld say that neither thinking about cooking as solely woman's task, and undermining the hard work that goes into cooking, is wrong.
also, women or men who cook for their families or spouses, out of care, wont count it all that they are preparing food for their family.

Re: mard khana nahi pakateye
There are some things men can do well and other things that they may be terrible at. For some men...cooking comes natural....for other men it may be disastrous.
Re: mard khana nahi pakateye
good to know, CBand Sajal.
in fact one of the main ways in which a family may come together is time for organized home cooking during family gatherings.
Re: mard khana nahi pakateye
which reminds me....when my sister and her husband first got married....she did all the cooking. In fact she continued to cook for many years thereafter...but she absolutely hated it. Now her husband took over the cooking and she does all the other household chores.

meray dost ko bhooka naheen marna…kya samjheen
Re: mard khana nahi pakateye
Men must help in cooking etc.
also keep in mind, if wife is a house wife then she must be responsible for arranging meal on time etc. But if she is a working mom then husband is responsible for 50% of the work.
