i saw this a few days ago… loved it..

based on shakespeare’s Macbeth.. i thought it was presented really well. Ive seen an older (english) version of it, that was reallllly gory.. not that this was any different.. but i liked the whole ‘Abba’ and the gangster twist..

anyone else seen it?

Re: maqbool

liked the movie btw.

Re: maqbool

yeah i know hehe.. i knew ud pick on me for it!!!

Re: maqbool

sorry buddy :) but yeah not everyone I know liked it... a lil too bold for average indian audience

I like Irfan Khan's acting a lot though...

and that old guy... dunno his name... won a couple of supporting actor awars this year too.

Re: maqbool

actually the old guy.. ummz his names i think pankaj kapoor, he won best actor by critics.. (although i reckon irfan had more of a role in the movie)

yeah, my mum didnt understand the movie at all.. she watched it on her own though and coudlnt ask questions, i guess thats why... i loved it.. ive seen the original macbeth liek 10 times, but found this one to be a lot more intriguing and the emotions were displayed soo well.. the intensity of it all..

Re: maqbool

yeah Irfan is helluva'n actor... he makes me wanna kill him in every movie he portrays a villian (almost all so far) - his role as Maamu in one of his early movies set a new trend in the industry too.

Re: maqbool

hey, which other movies has he done?? i know ive seen him before but cant recall which movie(s)

i actually loved him in this.. like u wanted to love and hate him at the same time...

Re: maqbool

can't recall the names other than Ghaath with him as Maamu... and Manoj Bajpai - good movie...

Re: maqbool

aaaah manoj.. my favorite actor. I could watch him for hours. Okies im gonna try to get Gaath

Re: maqbool

^ just to forewarn you... thats a very disturbing and depressing movie...

Re: maqbool

according to me maqbool is the best movie I have seen , seriously everything from actors to story and direction its perfect, the last scene ofthe movie. or the scene where maqbool sees blood, eveything is just done so flawless that its brilliant and then Irfan khan, the most brilliant actor ever, have u guys seen his movie with jimmy shergill where he was some student president and a bihari, amazing acting
worth a watch definitely

Re: maqbool

aah that was a good one too…
made me wanna kick his a$$ in that one too!

Re: maqbool

^ what movie was that.. the jimmy shergil one.... he's a pretty talented actor too, just needs the right roles i reckon..

hmmz.. kinda off topic, but how on earth did Veer Zaara get best film of 2004.. like how about Dev or Maqbool.. there were several other good ones which i cant remember right now..

Re: maqbool

or Khaaki for that matter… hell even Hum Tum was good.
Amitabh in Khaaki and Dev was awesome - I think he deserved an award, but alas - whatever… FilmFare is almost always biased.

Re: maqbool

^ ummz yeap i really liked hum tum  but was kinda embarrassed about mentioning that.. considering the type of movies im into these days… i watched Socha na tha lastnight… i loved the soundtrack and even the movie.. sigh whats wrong with moi hehe

yeah, Amitabh was awwwwesome in Dev and Khakee.. u know what.. i even liked Lakeer.. that movie got no mention.. it had a nice soundtrack too

Re: maqbool

haha... yeah... Hum Tum was a chick flick, but oh well entertaining nonetheless.

Lakeer... naah! except the SadiyaaN Sama Gayi song.

anyways, I'm off for the night... Man... I've wasted so much time on GS today. Gotta make up for it tomorrow.

Ciao.

Re: maqbool

Maqbool was an awesome movie...sadly an average person wouldnt know what the hell is going on...but it was a really good movie and a must see if you're into well made movies.

Re: maqbool

haha cyaz Umar  ummz u know what, sadiyan was my favorite song out of Lakeer too.. but people were raving about Pegham instead.. hmmmz..

yaasir, yeah i doubt an “average” movie watched would understand a movie like Maqbool.. for them Kisna is art.. :halo: gosh i hated that movie

Re: maqbool

Havent seen the movie but i can tell, irfan and pankaj must have done a nice job.
if you guys dont know pankaj kapoor , he is one of the finest actors of bollywood. he belongs to the same league as nasir, om puri etc. he has done many phenomenal roles in the past like karam chand, fatichar, jaban sambhal ke, neem ka ped etc(TV serials).
Also he is father of Shahid kapoor. ;)

Re: maqbool

I found the roles of Puri/Shah to be most telling(they portrayed the witches part from Macbeth) - The old horses timing was just too perfect....plus the intriguing love affair of Maqbool and Tabu..

For those who dont know Pankaj Kapoor - as Kaka said he is a accompolished stage actor in the same league as Nasir/Puri - of his memorable roles in bollywood - he played a kashmiri mujadhid in Roja , played a corrupt builder in Jaane bhi do yaroon
