Manisha Koirala married Samrat Dahal on June 18, 2010.
The 41 year old Nepali-Indian Princess is an actress, social activist, and UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador. Koirala married a Samarat Dahal, a 34 year old businessman. The pair met on Facebook and have dated since.
The couple exchanged vows at the Gokarna Forest Resort, the traditionally private hunting grounds within the Gokarna Forest. The wedding included an intimate ceremony before a small group of friends and family members. A reception follows the ceremony at the Hotel Soaltee Crown Plaza in Kathmandu, Nepal.

The Bride:
Koirala, the grand daughter of B P Koirala, the first elected prime minister of Nepal, started her career with the Nepali film Pheri Bhetaunla before she moved to Bollywood. She acted in many Hindi films including 1942: A Love Story, Dil Se, Saudagar and Akele Hum Akele Tum.
The Groom:
The groom is seven year younger than Koirala and a businessman in Kathmandu. He has founded an alternative energy company in Nepal recently after completing his education in the US.
The Awaam (People of Nepal):
Manisha was very popular among the Nepalese youths in Nepal but her popularity sank after she supported the rule of then King Gyanendra. The films in which Manisha acted were boycotted in Nepal and youths, including the Nepali-Congress affiliated organisations protested against her support to the autocratic rule of then King Gyanendra. Her father was also the minister under the direct rule of the king.
It was an irony that the Koirala family struggled for democracy in Nepal but Manisha and her father supported the monarchy. However, the monarchy was abolished at the initiative of late Girija Prasad Koirala.

The three-day ceremony started with an engagement ceremony and ends on Sunday with the reception.
The Engagement (Swyambar) ceremony was held at Gokarna Resort. Manisha looked uber gorgeous in her yellow sari and Samrat wore a suit with a Nepali topi. Apart from the friends and families, some bollywood actors and actress like Dipti Nawal, Vivek Mushran and his wife, Govinda’s wife Sunita Ahuja, designer Aana Singh were present in the engagement ceremony. Manisha’s father Prakash, mother Sushma, brother Siddhartha and his wife Julia, and Yamani were also present. Other participants were Sujata Koirala’s daughter Menaka Jost and her husband Rubel Chaudhari, her uncles Sekhar Koirala, Shreeharsa, and Sasanka were also present in the ceremony.

The Wedding:
It was a traditional Brahmin wedding for actress Manisha Koirala and Samrat Dahal held in Kathmandu Nepal. The bride wore a traditional red sari with a 3/4th sleeve brocade blouse and the groom a traditional Nepali outfit.
The marriage ceremony was held in Gokarna and it went well among close family members and friends of Manisha and Samrat.
The program was supposed to start at 9 AM but it was already 11AM when the marriage program finally started when Samrat Dahal arrived with his ‘Janti’. The marriage was performed in the traditional Nepali culture.
Noted participants in the marriage were Jackie Shroff, Gulsan Grover, Dipti Nawal, Suman Ranganathan, Aana Singh, and film producer Bobby.
Manisha got tired in the four hours long ceremony and fainted at one point. The marriage was paused for some time and Manisha was told to rest for some time. The program continued after some time.

The 'kanyadan' ceremony was a five-hour-long affair. After the 'kanyadan' and a tearful send-off, Samrat took his bride to his home at Maharajgunj in a procession accompanied by a wedding band that played mostly Bollywood tunes.
Manisha's father Prakash said it was love marriage.
"Yes, it is a love marriage. When she asked for consent, I gave the nod as I trust her," Prakash said.
Spread over three days, the elaborate marriage ceremony will conclude on Sunday with a grand dinner party at Hotel Soaltee Crowne Plaza here in which about 3,000 guests have been invited including President Ram Baran Yadav, prime minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, Maoist chief Prachanda and former King Gyanendra.

you know one thing ihave noticed with celebrity weddings.. they may be all glamourous to fit roles in movies but when it comes to traditions and culture.. tehy sure do follow up on it during a wedding... they embrace it on their special day..... kajols weddings pics are another example...
Neha - I think I agree - they look so glamorous in movies and they're dressed up as brides so many times but for their own wedding they look so dull - especially people like Ash. I guess its nice in a way they're not totally glammed up princess-types like Jordan here in the UK.

Another thing u have to remember is that in the movies, the makeup, the outfits, lighting, back groud and the special effects make them look even nicer.
But in their wedding pictures the make up isn't the movie (model) makeup, neither is the photograpy.

You're absolutely right. I think they set a very good example of how one can hold on to their culture and still be a very "modern" person.
Manisha looks really happy. But the girl needs to spend a little less time in the sun.
