Thanks everyone for your feedback and comments and let me try to give some more info. why the Pakistani Mangoes prices will be high…

First of all I am an importer, not retailer so I dont really want these mangoes to be high priced as I want this business to be a success not only this year but going forward too but unfortunatly my cost is addingup “High”.
Secondly (in reality) this year 2011 will be the first year allowed by USA for Pakistani mangoes which means Distributors and ultimately Retailers will like to make some “good money” on this “Unique” product.
Third, pakistani mangoes are ONLY ALLOWED COMMERCIALLY… means not allowed in personal baggages.
Fourth only Eight Orchards are approved by USDA in Pakistan so I am hoping high quality too.
Fifth, although I agree that Mexican, Haitian and Brazillian mangoes go through most of the same certifications conditions but they are not subject to “Air cargo” …they are usually come through trucking and sea cargo…Pakistani mangoes are allowed ONLY AIR CARGO.
Sixth, like other countries, Pakistani mangoes are also subject to “Hot Water” and “Irradiation Treatment” but all other countries get this treatment done (cheaper) in there respective countires but Pakistani mangoes are ONLY ALLOWED TO GET TREATMENT DONE IN USA IN ONLY ONE SPECIFIC COMPANY and subject to that company’s insurance rules and treatment fee structure.
Seventh, Pakistani mangoes are ONLY ALLOWED TO LAND IN CHICAGO and not any other airport in USA atleast for this year.
Eight, Pakistani mangoes will than be traveled from Chicago to Iowa (500 miles) to the specific company for irradiation treatment…ONLY ALLOWED TO TRAVEL IN REFREGIRATED BONDED TRUCKS ONLY.
Ninth, I mentioned in my last post a price of $30…This is an estimate…First of all I meantioned MINIMUM 6 mangoes (they could be more depeding on size, weight and variety). Also remmember these mangoes will move from Importer’s hand to Distributors hand and than Retailers so I am predicting that high price at RETAIL level (it could be low).
Tenth reason I am predicting Pakistani mangoes will be high price because we have to compare apple to apple means if dessi people are paying $37 for Indian Alfanso mangoes (although Indian mangoes are treated in India and allowed to land any airport and small in size 10 in a box of 2.5kg) at local indian stores in LA and Chicago than how come Pakistan native generious people will not pay a decent price to support something sweet that they should feel proud.

In the end I am not trying to justify hight price but I just spelledout honest and real scenario. Again if you dont want to pay high price at Retail store, you can contact me direct for a decent order and you will get a better deal…I am really interested in distibutors and retailers who are willing to commit there orders…Thanks

You might be better off by using some jugar to import them through Mexico , Haiti etc. Like in the days of textile quota people used to export Pakistani garments to Dubai and then would import them to USA. I do not know how it is going to work but that is an idea.
