i don’t understand the girls that dress like fullblown dulhan’s for their engagement-i’m talking heavy kaam lehnga, heavy jewlery, heavy makeup, etc (and also go all out with hall, food, dancing, etc)

if you’re that decked out on your mangni, what the heck are you gonna do for your shadi? i mean seriously…what’s left?

the shaadi is the shaadi, you cant ever be as decked out as a bride until that day :)

and lots of girls go all out because they have big families they want to share the occasion with.

i see what you're saying, and i can understand wanting to celebrate big but like i saw picture of this wedding my friends went to and the girl looked beautiful mashallah , but trust me she looked like it was her wedding day not mangni...obviously its her day and more power to her

my point is though, if you look like you're at your main event on your mangni day what are you going to do on the actual shadi day?

my parents-in-law showed me my mungni outfit 2 days before the engagement…and oh my god i din liek it at all i started crying there and then…then my father-in-law to be quickly took me to shops and bought me the one i pointed out to…i kinda broke his heart i was soooo depressed…but iv made that up to him now…:p…mugur kiya kurti…im jus one of those ppl who cant wear wot they dont like to wear…

aww that’s so sweet of your fatherin law…i’m afraid of hideous surprises as well and i’m the type of person who’ll cry if i see that i have to wear something that i don’t like and i usually get stubborn

Mangni outfits cud be a chooridar and kameez that u cud get simple "kaam" done on, the chiffon jamawar's and actual jamawar are the perfect material for kaam..these days antique work is back in...mangni outfits shud be lighter in color..and light in work too.

Some colors that you shud consider are lavender/lilac, peaches and aquamarine, tea-pinks and even mint, creams and beiges too look stunning combined with ethnic work..in bronze or copper.
