Re: Mangni
If you want something different, why not a saree? Not a heavily beaded one but a nice one.
Re: Mangni
I know islamically it really has no value to it, but its still something that is celebrated. What are the appropriate clothes to wear at such an occassion? The first time around I never had one, just a nikkah… no formal ceremony once the baat was pakki or whatever.
I’m assuming you could get away with a nice dress or something instead of desi clothes because from what I hear my clothes are gonna be a hideous rust gold and parrot green… my two not-so-favorite colors in the world. What do most people wear at a mangni these days? Thanks
My brother had his mangni recently, but it was a big affair with about 60 people or so and his fiancee was very dressed… im talking kaam wala churidaar outfit and alot of jewelry and stuff but she is very flashy anyways so i think that was more than what normal people would do lol… ok i’ve gone off on a tangent here now. Just tell me what I should wear please!!!
Sabriya for Pakistani’s like u who r not comfortable wid their relative’s choice of dresses in Pakistan I have started a bridal consultancy service so that I can discuss with my clients over the internet wot design…colour…style they want etc it makes things quite easier and make u look gorgeous too

Re: Mangni
^ That is really pretty
higher heels + churiyan and its a perfect engagement/nikaah outfit :)
Re: Mangni
very pretty look! and i think the fact that its a gharara makes it dressy and perfect for the occasion- in a shalwar kameez it would have been too plain. i love your earrings too!

Re: Mangni
My MIL had a shalwar kamiz made for me -- peach colored jamevar with combination gold and silver kaam. It was really nice and it looks great with a gold churidaar as well. Dupatta was organza net.

Re: Mangni
I really like the first one that you posted Ume.. thats exactly how i wanted my clothes to be..the cut and everything… but I dont think they’re gonna turn out that way. I still have time to ask my family to get me something else from pak as I have over a month till the ceremony but I doubt they’ll do a good job with it
I wish my in-laws would have just gotten me the dress for the mangni, but they’re Egyptian and they dont have that custom… all they asked was that I wear either blue or pink as per their tradition… I think i’ll just go with a pink dress or chooridaar outfit if I can find one on my own! The ceremony itself is no grand affair, but we’re having a lot of people coming.. so I think a few gold bracelets and earrings would suffice… no necklace right?
By the way I really like both of your clothes, SGC and sara..
Saby you can e mail them pictures and tell them to do work in pic
you can do this pink with that kind of gala and bazoo.Sometimes I do that since some clothes are very expensive here so I tell my SIL to make clothes like the idea I am giving. And sometimes they do it and it turns great.YOu just have to give them right idea what do you want.
edit The link I posted was not good one.
