Re: Manchester Opera......THE LEGENDARY PANKAJ UDHAS

he is, as you said, a legend in ghazal ki duniya. so if your hubby (and you) like ghazals then you should go.

personally, i wouldnt go to an event like this for birthday celebration. to me most ghazals are boring and sad.

Re: Manchester Opera......THE LEGENDARY PANKAJ UDHAS

its a matter of personal liking. You would know your hubby's taste better - but NFAK and Pankaj shouldn't be compared cuz they're in different genres... qawwalis/songs versus ghazals respectively. Being fond of one genre does not mean you'll like the other. The only common thing is perhaps being based on formal poetry but then again the genres build upon different styles of poetry.

For me personally, I'm a big fan of Pankaj who's my second favorite ghazal singer after Jagjit.

umar bhai... considering your taste in movies, ghazals etc its hard to believe that you were raised on the other side of the border...
i guess media is mighter than barb wires...
