Since I am planning to visit the city, i would like to know about the city.
I have heard that this place has large asian community around.

Visit Wilmslow Road. It is to Manchester what the Broadway and Green St is to London, full of Pakistani restaurants and shops. You'll feel perfectly at home there.
The Trafford centre is supposedly good for shopping if thats your thing.
Also I hear the Moss Side area is a good tourist attraction :D
