My management s.cks!!!
I keep doing my best, get them all the media attention they want, last year worked for 2 awards…n we won both of them!!! This is just won another award, got nominated for 2 others!!!
But they don’t show any kind of recognition. Not even a word of thanks!!!
I hate my work!!!
I went to them, announced them the result a day before the official results are out…and they are like: ah…ok…fine…
eeehhhhh…weird people I work for!!

Re: Management recognition
mermaid, maybe you should change your stream and actually work in an environment, where your work is valued and there is room for personal career growth. :>
it is the loss of your employer, in losing you as a smart employee because of not rewarding you.

Re: Management recognition
yeah dushi....but sometimes i think i should at least wait for my 2nd year to be over....so that i don't seem to be too flighty!
I just can't make up my mind....ahhh...i'm just so depressed now...
In the beginning I thought because I was new, that's why I was treated like this....
My very first assignment when I joined the company was to work on the whole of website content...end of year, we win an award for the website...n i'm not even informed or invited...i said fine...
then 2 more awards...same attitude....no credit goes to me!!!!!
Now that i've spent almost 2 yrs here, i expected their attitude to change....but they are so ungrateful!!!!!
I mean, ok, i get paid at the end of the month....but still....................
Re: Management recognition
hehehe
never tell them anything, until they ask. ![]()
n if they ask u then ask them “wat ya wana hear?”
hopefully they will say “something good”
n then tell them “yep! it is something good”
p.s. never give a complete picture to na-shukeray ppl ![]()
Re: Management recognition
Its just the BEST when a boss gives a complement for work well done. I've had that type of boss and also the type of bosses that you've described. Are they always harried and looking ahead? If they're that type, then you'll likely only hear from them if you ARENT doing a good job so look on that as a complement in itself. Its always better to really feel appreciated but if you take those "type-A" personalities into account, they really dont do that. Hang in, hang tough and just keep on doing a great job, it will reap its rewards in other ways hopefully, like a really nice bonus. And in the end, it all looks just smashing on your resume!

what you should be happy and thankful for is that you were able to win those awards for your company. Now if they dont have a good recognition system or approach in place that is okay, because bosses change, and ppl change companies. Tyhat type of stuff looks great on a resume..
make teh right moves, thank your mgmt for giving you the opportunity to lead such an important task and how with their support and leadership the company was able to win such awards.
Re: Management recognition
mamaof3, i dont necassirly agree with the type-A personality. I would agree that they probably have a higher probability of being task focused and not into appreciation etc. I have worked for several type-A personalities and my best boss was a type A and my worst boss was a type A. I think he was more of a type=A-hole.

cheer up . and work unless you find a better job
Re: Management recognition
yeah...it's gonna look really great on my resume for sure! Plus i've been handling all these projects all by myself....enormous amount of exposure and experience.....but a tap on the shoulder takes you a long way!!!
Plus if they were like this with everybody, i wouldn't really feel sooo bad....but some people do small things and they are so impressed, i do big things and it goes unnoticed!! :( :(
Re: Management recognition
hey yes X2...i think I'll write them a letter thanking them for letting me handle such important tasks.....subtly telling them how difficult it is to get there with so much competition and how good it is for the company's image....
haha.....let me try this one....at least they'll realise how hard i work devilish grin
Ok, now let me be happy for having done a good job!! :)

Huhhh???????
Re: Management recognition
i second this too.
X2 is right with looking beyond personal gains.
it is not sacrifice but, i would say that do this work with a sense of personal pride, in a way that sets positive precedent for the company's admin and fellow staff or colleagues to learn from your dedication.

hey u are a marketing professional, u need to focus on your personal btrand and bardn equity, brand promise and all. That is a longer term thing. On this one, be tactful about how you write that, it should not be a me, me , me letter, but a we, we , we letter. Make all feel that they were part of something important and their contributions, leadership, advise and support was critical in allowing you to execute the group's vision and win these awards.
