Did you graduate in Marketing like general marketing?
Re: ---Management Careers
bachelors in business- marketing and Supply & Logisitcs
Re: ---Management Careers
woah!..That sounds difficult to me...but really it was hard to find job...did you try the university career services? I have heard that they are a real help in getting the foot in the door...But your real life account is making me rethink..as I am interested in marketing yet am waiting till I take both management and marketing to bet a better understanding befor I declare a major.
Re: ---Management Careers
well the thing is i went to uni in another state...i am now an alumni...so it is difficult for me to get in contact with them....i think i will soon enough though. i would suggest have ur teachers and career center help u get ur foot in the door.....i may be having a bad experience but that is not true for everyone. just do something else with it....like another subject...i think it is hot right now....

I was thinking either Management with a marketing minor or a Marketing with management minor(unfortunately my Uni doesnt allow any other minor from different areas)...But I have time..the only thing is these are the suggestions I have heard the foot in the door thing.:). But how long have you been looking for a job , if you havent gotten it still that is?
Re: ---Management Careers
well i really don't have much experience at all except for sales....i also took 1 year off to get married...so i have been looking since february of 2007. I have a job right now, but it is really not what i was looking for it has nothing to do with my degree....so i am technically still looking.
Re: ---Management Careers
Pyari
have you looked into teh supply chain and logistics aspect of your degree? that links up with sourcing, and that is a hot area right now, especially with the international sourcing for raw mtls, components and even final products.
how far are you from santa monica btw?
Re: ---Management Careers
you can get into ERP functional !!!
Re: ---Management Careers
chintu , i think experience is an issue, she can easily get into CRM, Trade Promotion, or even BI vendors like TIBCO, or Cognos.
it really depends what it is that one wants to do, experience and opportunity.
Re: ---Management Careers
in supply and logistics just remember i am a girl and would not like to have a job where i would have to be working with a lot of males...or even the fact of having a facotry type job...the only reason why i am saying that is because when we went on some of our tours for S&L class that is what I saw....not all jobs, just a few places we went to.
From Santa Monica I am about 35 to 40 mins away without traffic....But I if I find a good enough paying job then I wouldn't mind moving that way esp if my husband inshallah finds a job in downtown LA.
But somebody plz help me i have applied for so many different places...but I mostly keep getting responses from LA Marketing Company....what is that place about????
Re: —Management Careers
you really need to read up about the types of jobs in supply and logistics. read up on supply chain managament.
and in a corporate SCM job you will probably have just as many guys working with you as you will have in marketing. just like marketing is not travelling sales work, supply chain is not factory based roles.
is this the LA marketing company u are talking about?
when you talk about good paying job what do you mean? what are you looking at?
I may be able to help u with the santa monica job if its a fit.
Re: ---Management Careers
Sorry its called LA Marketing Firm, career builders offers a lot of their jobs.
I understand what your talking about, maybe I just been having a hard time with finding a job. I know with marketing I have mostly been getting offers for sales positions. I wanted to go into the other aspect of marketing which deals with the company and not directly with the customers.
I wouldn't mind doing a S&L job. And I know there are different roles in an S&L job depending on the company.
What type of job is it at SM? You have seen my resume. I am just looking for anything in marketing, not the sales side. Or even in S&L. Because in the future I want to go for an MBA.
When I talk about pay I don't want to go to an entry level job and end up at minimum wage. Because although my job isn't what I was looking for I get paid double minimum.
Re: ---Management Careers
check your PM
I cant promise much, but a friend works there and can do an internal referral, you have to be 100% sure that this is something you want to do, and can do.
and u need to be a lot more specific about salary requirements, because that would come up in interviews and referrals. I would have been able to help you more if you were in Chicago area.
Re: ---Management Careers
I read your pm and replied. Thanks for your help. Its really amazing how LA is so big but there doesn't seem to be a lot here as from what I have seen unless you know someone in the company.
Re: ---Management Careers
Pyaari,
More and more S&L related task are relegated to software, i.e. pre-planned and now more operational than strategic. As one of the other members suggested, general ERP/CRM might be a good fit. Check out www.epicor.com jobs section. They are located new LA, they are major mid-market ERP/CRM/SCM vendor and are doing very well. If they interest you, send me a PM.
