This might interest some (ie Jewels), its an email I recieved on a listserv I’m part of:
First in Discovery magazine years back, they published an article about a discovery of the potential clay which ** originates human life ** in the shallow seas of Northern Australia.
Secondly, it is intriguing to learn that a bio-chemist in Glasgow called Alexander Cairns-Smith in his study on how biological life first started, began by asking the question - what is one of the central qualities that defines life? He assertained the answer to be the ability to reproduce or replicate.
Now it is usually considered that the original self replicator is DNA, but was it possible that there were sefl-replicating genes before DNA that would not have been so susceptable to damage by the early envirnnment on earth?
What was needed were genes that could aquire and retain information and use that information to interact with their environment. So, Cairns-Smith asked, was ther something even simpler than DNA
that posses all these abilities, and answer was yes - that something was CRYSTALS.
After more study the theory was proposed that one crystaline form, that not only interacted withits environment in a complex and ordered way, but also possessed an innate tendancy to EVOLVE, was a colloidal suspension of quartz particles in water, more commonly known as CLAY! Alexander Cairns-Smith has not been the first to put forward this sugestion.
** In the Quran surah 15 26& 15.28 : God created humans from CLAY. **
