Officials: Passenger killed after claiming to have bomb
MIAMI, Florida (CNN) – A federal air marshal shot and killed a 44-year-old U.S. citizen on a boarding bridge at Miami International Airport after he said he had a bomb, several sources familiar with the incident told CNN.
Flight 924 was in Miami on a stopover during a flight from Medellin, Colombia, to Orlando, Florida, when the man said there was a bomb in his carry-on luggage, a Department of Homeland Security official said.

He was coming from medellin, and acting bizarre, so maybe he actually said he had a bong? Instead of blowing everybody up, maybe he just wanted to smoke everybody out. Ya know, back in college I had couple bouts with paranoia after a little too much of the chronic.

but he was mentally sick. My mother in law has schizophrenia and she walks around thinking that the whole world is spying on her and the cia is coming to get her and that she needs to prepare for the invasion. They didn't need to shoot to kill, they could've shot him on the leg or something.

how’re they supposed to differentiate between the sane and the insane at a moments notice? When someone is yelling that they have a bomb, is heading into a airport terminal and then starts reaching into a bag when they’re stopped you shoot to kill.
btw, does you mother-in-law happen to be pakistaniabroad? the conspiracy theory tendencies give it away.

A- If anyone other than a muslim commits crime, the question of sanity or insanity and possibility of 'stress' or mallow reasonings comes up frequently. (Guy who killed Kennedy, one who attempted killing Reagan, One who attempted flying to building in Paris etc.)
Does this mean 1- Muslims are crazy anyway...so no need to question?:)
2- A muslim does evil act with clear mind...without stress or
possible emotional disturbances!!?
B- The person had been through the security at least twice. Does this mean that there is no credibility of the security system?
C- Why were the luggage detonated? Again no credibility of the luggage security system or dogs? This perhaps destroyed much needed info about the man.
(Someone may answer that what could be more credible than the man's own words....)
A paralyzing gun or crippling shots could be tried to get to the bottom of the matter.
Sometimes I wish security people, police etc. had a small video camera which can quickly be turned on..mounted over their chest, belt or shoulder etc.

Well his wife was yelling that he was crazy and had not taken his medication. I understand sort of why they had to shoot. I just don’t understand why it’s a shoot to kill.

The avearge person in America/West (including brown people) has more rights than an average person in Pakistan, so there is no need to pretend the opposite, despite how good it may make some people feel.

Actually, after taking control of the plane(s), the 9-11 terrorists had claimed to the passengers that they had a bomb. Apparently, this was meant to prevent the passengers from revolting and buy enough time to crash into their targets. Devious, lying little f*ckers weren’t they?

Tough situation for everybody involved. I don't think the air marshalls had much of a choice. I guess the only solution to this in the future would be to have a tranquilizer dart but I don't know if they would sedate a person soon enough.
OR
A tazer would probably be better than a tranquilizer gun.
