Saw the movie “Mammo” today. It’s about a woman who leaves the rest of her family in india during partition and leaves for pakistan with her husband. After her husband dies, she goes back to india and stays with her sister and her grandson, but visa restrictions catch up and she’s deported back to Lahore. A very sensitively portrayed story, Shyam Benegal at his very best. Farida Jalal plays Mammo’s role to perfection. Highly recommended for anyone tired of the usual themes and looking for something natural.
Excellent movie, I saw this movie a few years back. Its just a beautiful portrayal of simple things in life. Farida Jalal did a beautiful job!
