The effectiveness of a teacher is determined by a combination of attributes, including, but not limited to his/her subject matter knowledge (in terms of accuracy and comprehensiveness), communication skills, and fairness.
Re: your second question, I think it applies equally to male and female teachers… married and unmarried… I’ve had my fair share of interesting incidents to know this by now
